These are some of the projects I have worked on by artists who didn't have a record deal.

- Poe
She wasn't called Poe when I worked with her, but she WAS an amazing artist, and very fun to work with. But she moved to L.A., so when she got her record deal, she started working with a new team. (The story of my record biz years.) She has made a couple of awesome records and she did thank me on her first one (even if she spelled it wrong!)
- The Mind's Eye
This was a cool project I did with T-Bone Wolk in upstate Siloam, New York, a little town halfway between Syracuse and Utica. Karen Savoca and her husband Pete Heitzman lived in a desanctified 19th century church which was amazing to record in. The methods were fairly crude (no ProTools back then), but we had fun and made some great recordings. They are still at it and distribute their CDs on their own.
- High Plains Drifters
This was a band that G.E. Smith put together. We recorded at the now-defunct Sorcerer Sound, which was one of the most unique studios I have ever worked at. G.E. is a guitar amp amp maven, owning 2 of every amp he has so that he can record in stereo. He is also a helluva player and band leader.
- Hell's Kitchen
Another project that I did at Sorcerer with some buddies from the hood. A bunch of great players who could not get along no matter how much I tried to mediate. Doomed from the start. Mixed at Unique, another great now-defunct studio, though owner Bobby Nathan has developed an excellent line of ProTools plug-ins (URS).
- Mike Harvey
An artist I met while doing music ad work. He's an amazing singer, songwriter, and producer. And a really good guy I have had some fun times with. I was only too happy to work on these mixes for him.

- Clan Chi
This was a record project spawned by an ad that I did for Deutsche Telekom in Gemany, which has become T Mobile here in the states. You know that annoying 5-note ring that you hear in every T Mobile ad and on every one of their phones? We wrote that! We also wrote a piece of music along with it and then wrote an album's worth of material using the musical concepts we had used with that: rhythmic pulses and layered non-lyrical vocals combined with electronica. This became Clan Chi. You can find the whole record on iTunes if you're interested.
- John Margolis
John asked me to do a mix for him, and after he heard it, he asked if I wanted to mix another one. After I heard a few more songs, I talked him into letting me mix the whole album. He's become one of my dearest friends. One of the most talented songwriters and performers I know.
- Katelyn Tarver
A friend who I've done some ad music with named Gabriel Dorman asked if I wanted to produce this artist with him who he'd written some tunes for. She was a talented 15 year-old at the time. This was to become the lead-off single, but it never got the big label deal.
- Roman Zeitlin
Roman and I are trying to do something a little different than the typical jazz project. He writes amazing songs that totally inspire me, whether they're for his own record, a film or an ad. We're still working on new stuff, and hopefully, this will get signed.
