Set against the fiery landscape of the 1992 LA Riots, a man and a woman from worlds apart fearlessly grapple with an impossible love. Rachel Solomon is a talented director--on the rise in L.A.’s fast-paced and competitive commercial production world. After a mysterious doctor’s visit, she begins to question her relentless ambition. In search of meaning, Rachel returns to her original love – Photography. She creates a set of controversial images, which reveal the sacred and divine of those living on the fringes of society.
Damon Matthew is a gangster and a car thief. Turning to religion in an effort to remove himself from a life of crime and violence, he attempts to make his way towards an honest life. Yet still, he is torn by the raw demands of survival, and the strong bonds of loyalty to his fellow gang members.
As fate would have it, Rachel’s photography takes her into South Central LA, the day the 1992 LA RIOTS explode. Damon is shot and ducks into her car for cover. Thrown together in a tumultuous union, they journey on a path neither of them would ever have predicted. Imagine if you will, “Crash meets Last Tango in Parisâ€.
Rachel and Damon are thrown into a relationship of forbidden allegiances and irresistible opposites. Surrounded by danger, they discover a mutual understanding, a strange intimacy. In spite of the sharp contrasts of their worlds, they share secrets and passions that push them to challenge all they have ever stood for or believed. Until Damon is faced with a heart-wrenching ultimatum from his gang--either he or Rachel must die. What ensues is an end wrought with betrayal and dramatic confrontation, reminiscent of Orson Wells’ Touch of Evil.
