About Me and my Family
I'm Evelyn Martin, and I'm married to a writer, and we live in Brady, Texas in the heart of the state. I have a daughter, Wendy McGuckin, living in Oklahoma, and two adopted children (my husband's kids), and two grandkids. I work as a hairdresser and own a busness called Style Studio. My business is large enough to have two rental offices. We also have Campo Madrone, which is my husband's hang-out across town. He goes by any number of alter ego writing names, like D. Paz Dalton, or Cletus Duhon, but to me he's just Phil Martin, the college professor I took up with over twenty years ago. Our lives revolve around our children and grandchildren, our animal friends - the two dogs, Sophie and Greta, and the cats (that number changes from time to time). My husband sits at a computer all day most days, unless he's out prowling around (and he prowls around a lot), or in the shop working on some wood project, usually guitars. I work twelve hour days from Tuesday through Saturday, then spend the other two days making soaps, lotions, etc. Around here, we work hard (although Phil is guilty of taking long afternoon naps). Men are sort of like that, you know - lacking in stamina. But he's good to to have around to lift heavy things . . . and get lids off jars you can't open. And he helps take care of this moli site. And we still travel some . . . not nearly as much as back when we were younger.
