About the Business
Richard Hallmarq is a native of Sacramento, CA., but his heritage is rich beyond the capital. The son of Panamanian/American parents, Hallmarq's sense of creativity was nurtured early on. He learned to sew in junior high school, and reached new levels as a high school fashion design student, creating cutting-edge styles for friends and fellow students. Long before it became trendy to team with celebrities, including musicians and actors, Hallmarq made fashion inroads, connecting with artists working under Prince's Minneapolis-based music label, Paisley Park. His first collection debuted in fall 2003. Since then, Hallmarq has orchestrated numerous fashion shows in Sacramento. In August 2005, he showed for the first time at San Francisco Fashion Week. His third spring/summer collection, Romantic Sparkle Circus, received rave reviews at the most recent SFFW. Hallmarq combines strict attention to detail with a flair for selecting unique and imaginative fabrics when assembling a collection. His next, for fall 2008, is eagerly anticipated. As his fashion mantra states: The time is now to wear tomorrow.
