I've always thought LL Cool J was one of the most talented artists ever since i became obsessed with music.  I remember when I was in middle school he was all i listened to, and by listening to LL, I discovered many other artists.  I want to make the music buisness my career somehow.  Music is already my life, and by having LL Cool J exist, I discovered that.

I am not a good writer but I will try my best to say what I really feel.  Most artist reach that gold level then change there style of music for whatever reason, the end result is not usually a good one. Thinking about you and what you have accomplished I try to do in my everyday life.  That is to never stop doing what you are passionate about doing and of course the most important thing is proving others wrong  and that you can make it where others failed.  You are now at the level and very rare to see that you are still doing what you love and putting quality music out there instead of putting music whereas there's no sustenance.  The new music has no heart and soul every time I listen to music even though I may listen to new school type but I focus more on the oldies but goodies.  Your songs old or new I can play now all the time and it never dies.  Goin back to <city st="on">Cali</city>, I have that song as my intro on myspace and the reason why I put that song is because yes I'm from <place st="on">Southern California </place>but because of the military we had to move.  Well we've been to 2 different states thus far and have not been back so my feelings on <state st="on"><place st="on">California</place></state> is what I feel about now in that song.  It so hard to explain how a person feels it cannot be summed up in a few words.  What I or should I say we learn from you is being strong, determined, and go after your dreams and just take it.  Having stamina is not easy, life is so hard that you never know how life will lead you, things happen for a reason and everyone has a story.  I live in pain everyday I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was 13 years old, boy was it hard being so young but having to grow up as a result of a serious disease.  I always felt different and I always hided the fact that I had this condition because I didn’t want people to feel sorry for me.  So I made it all those years trying to prove something to myself, it had really nothing to do with my peers I’ve always been hard on myself.  I never take no for an answer and I try and push myself further than anyone that is in my shoes.  Your song “Mama Said Knock You Out” when I was growing up in school sometimes I would come home crying because I was always being picked on, in high school I think I only weighed maybe 90 pounds but I never liked being so skinny because people would tease me all the time.  My mother didn’t know if I was being harassed physically so she said just remember this do not go around picking fights but if someone does hit you make sure you knock them out.  Every time that comes on I think of that conversation I cry to because my mother died about 7 years ago on December 31st.  I lost my mother to cancer and she fought a long fight, she lived with cancer for 5 years.  I loved my mother so much but I learned a lot from her as well.  Like you she had longevity but she also liked challenges.  So many things that I have gone through for all these years, my illness didn’t just stop with diabetes, I was diagnosed with Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthiritis, Bursitis of both shoulders, Osteoarthiritis in hip, back and neck, pinched nerve, polyneuropathy, cartlidge damage to both knees, erosive damage to both hands, insomnia, fibromyalgia, Muscularmyalgia and  oh yes I have scoliosis.  Yes that’s a lot I’ve been on so much medication that I started refusing it, nothing was working but I didn’t want my children to see me drunk on medication.  I’ve tried everything was on chemo pills and all that it did is cause me to start developing infections that would not go away so my life became so different then what it started out to be.  A lot of the time it is so hard to be happy but I try and have a positive outlook on life even though things may not be going the way that I want them to.  I look at you and you should be so proud of what you have done.  You are successful in your music, your acting and your clothing line is nice too. Speaking of that I've been trying to find your clothing line out here in Northern Virginia</place> and have not been successful maybe you can help me with that issue we need to get these people in tuned to what's really going on.  Everything you touch I feel turns to gold, you are so loved by all and you deserve everything good that comes your way. One thing that I do have to say to you is thank you for staying with your roots I know that whenever I invest in anything that has to do with LL Cool J I'm never disappointed. Every time you make music or act you command my attention I am definitely a fan you put me in that melodic state of mind and I don’t think about anything else.  I hope that I can be more than a fan I would like to say that James is my friend.  I'm a year older than you sometimes people say that I don't look my age but you are definitely in that category is it possible that the older you get the more sexy you get(smile).  Okay I got carried away but one day if you can send me an email I would love to be able to talk to you as a friend no hidden agenda's I promise.  On moli and myspace I use the same name 4wildcat.  My brother's gave me that nickname when I was little they said that I used to run so fast they couldn't catch me like a cat so it stuck with me. I did meet you about 24+ years ago when I was in my party years I remembered you smiled at me but I didn't get a chance to talk to you.  Maybe I will get a chance to meet you one day.  Take care my friend love ya.

One more thing I really don't care about the contest it would be nice to finally win something but I just wanted you to know how I feel about you as an artist.  Food for thought,  most of the time great things go unnoticed but God is always watching and your rewards come from him, keep your head up and have a wonderful day or evening.

Biography

Believe it or not, there was once a time when even industry insiders assumed that an artist would never find longevity in the world of hip-hop. Yet, with almost two decades of hits and his tenth album ready to drop, LL Cool J has proven the naysayers wrong. On 10 the ultimate rhyme slayer has climbed back into the ring and is ready to do his thing. "I consider this disc to be a milestone in my life," says LL Cool J. "A tenth album for anybody is truly an amazing moment."

As one of the few commercially viable artists one can truly call a veteran, LL has come a long way from his origins in St. Albans, Queens. From his early days of rapping in front of the mirror in his bedroom while The Sugar Hill Gang boomed from his radio, LL has always been determined to be a winner in the game. "I sent my demo to many different companies, but it was Def Jam where I found my home," says LL. At 33-years old, LL Cool J has received two Grammy Awards, penned his autobiography I Make My Own Rules and is the first rap artist to amass six Click Here consecutive platinum-plus selling albums and six gold singles.

Beginning his career with the masterful 1985 debut album RADIO, which was the first Def Jam disc ever released, LL Cool J has refused to slow his roll. In addition to his music, LL has also made forays into the world of film and television. Yet, while he has appeared in seventeen films and one hit television series (the currently in syndication In the House), LL insists, "Doing films will never stop me from treating my music with the utmost respect. Just because people see me in films, doesn't mean that I'm not still trying to create hot joints in the studio."

For 10, LL teams with old friends (The Trackmasters) and new buddies (The Neptunes) to create an album that can compete with any other beats on the streets. "I lived, breathed and slept this record. For me, it's all about taking risks. I'm not trying to rehash Bigger & Deffer or Mama Said Knock You Out. When a rapper starts repeating themselves, that's when they become stale." As fans and critics will soon hear, LL Cool J is as fresh as he ever was.

While over the years LL has worked with a wide array of producers including Rick Rubin, Marley Marl and Puffy, he says, "Part of working with great producers, whether it's Trackmasters or The Neptunes, is finding people who can help me execute my vision as an artist."

Spending two weeks in the studio with The Neptunes at their Virginia Beach compound, LL recalls, "Its always fun to work with people who are energetic and enthusiastic about their work. I was supposed to work with The Neptunes a few years ago, but because of time, it didn't fall in place. Maybe it just wasn't the time, but for 10 we made it work."

Although LL is constantly writing rhymes in various notebooks, he confesses, "I do most of writing for record in the studio. I like being in the moment, writing in the zone as the beat bangs in my ears. From there, I just let the words fall where they fall."

Speaking from the executive suite, Def Jam President Kevin Liles says, "With 10, LL Cool J is still relevant, because he has been able to transcend time periods. Throughout his career he has reinvented himself, while still staying true to who he is. When he raps he is still thinking about the girls who has his picture on the wall and the cats that know he has been through it all. He's not trying to be what he's not and he is what he is."

As LL Cool J proclaimed on his last release, The G.O.A.T. he is still the Greatest of All Time. "As an artist, I feel I am constantly growing. It's not about money or power anymore. There's just a special feeling you get when you complete a project and present it to the world." With the release of 10, one is sure the world will still embrace the powers and prowess of LL Cool J.
