How it all Started

Anyone can start taking amazing digital pictures the minute you hand them a compact, easy-to-use Nikon D40. To prove it, we gave 200 to the people of Georgetown, South Carolina. What happened next was extraordinary.

Overnight, they started taking some of the best pictures of their lives. Pictures so good, we dubbed Georgetown "Picturetown".

Meet the People of Picturetown

The people of Georgetown, SC, are pretty much like people everywhere. They're friendly, they care about their families, their jobs, their town. And they've lost too many great moments to shutter delay, lazy autofocus and poor lighting.

But that all changed when the Nikon D40 came to town. Now they're capturing the moment in crystal-clear focus with true-to-life detail and color. See how the D40 transformed the picture-taking lives of the people of Picturetown.

I received a Nikon EM for Christmas when I was in eighth grade and suddenly the world went from black and white to technicolor.

After high school I put the camera down (how I wish I still had that camera!)...

however I recently took up photography again and it's so amazing to see your surroundings through a lens.

Check out my photo "Graduation Day",

a perfect example of finding a beauty and meaning in what most people would overlook.

    cheers...

I love my Nikon D70 and just bought my wife a Nikon D80s for Christmas but I first made the mistake by using one of those cheap camera places online because the prices were so low.

    (ahem - www.expresscameras.com)

BUT be warned, these places are selling refurbished cameras and lenses and are NOT worth the risk and hassle.  Only deal with reputable companies and trust the saying, if it sounds too good to be true...it probably is.

I have used the Cannon 20 D for the last 4 years it goes every where with me. I took it to Hawaii in September. I wonder what the Nikon 40 D has to offer, will it covert me?

Used to take a lot of pictures and then stopped. I was shown now how easy the NikonD40 is to use and how far photography has come and I am now looking forward to starting up again.

Having 2 beautiful kids, nothing could be better than to share their pictures with the amazing Moli world having them wearing their I like Nikon D40 shirts which they wear all the time!

But having them, my priorities are to make sure they have clean clothes (like their Nikon shirt), a roof over their head and a warm meal from time to time, so a camera like this, well, it's just a dream for us.

    Thank you all.
