  • Ronaldinho TV ads set to appear

Nutrilite sponsored athlete Ronaldinho will soon begin to appear as a part of an advertising campaign geared toward Hispanic Americans throughout the United States.

The award winning soccer star, who plays for AC Milan and was recently part of the bronze medal winning Brazilian team in Beijing doesn't just say he endorses the Nutrilite brand and the Team Nutrilite philosophy; he actually uses the products and believe in the philosophy to help him get the most out of what nature gave him - both on and off the field.

Starting October 10 and running through December 31, 2008 a total of 213, 30-second spots will appear on top Spanish language television stations. There will be just the one spot, with a focus on building awareness for Nutrilite.  The message is simple - Unleash your natural potential with Nutrilite.

The ads will run on Univision (available in 114 million households) and Fox Sports en Espanol (available in 16 million households). Watch for the spot during Futbol Liga Mexicana, CONCACAF Champions League and Contacto Deportivo on Univision and during coverage of the Premiere League and Futbol de Italia along with various ancillary sports programming on Fox Sports en Espanol.

In conjunction with the TV ad, a Spanish language micro site will launch.  Nutrilite80.com will feature information on Nutrilite Daily Multivitamin, Rhodiola 110 and Kids Multivitamin as well as who Amway Global and Nutrilite are.  Coming in a few weeks will be the addition of a viral campaign - EveryKickCounts.com.  Stay tuned for more information.

  • Sanya Richards and Aaron Ross - ESPN Sweat Spot

Well... they say that couples that play together, stay together! Right now one of the most popular ESPN videos online is of Nutrilite-sponsored athlete Sanya Richards and her fiance, Aaron Ross of the Super Bowl winnin' New York Giants!

The video is called: The Mag: Aaron Ross and Sanya Richards Sweat Spot. It shows the couple working out together and you can even see Sanya's touchdown dance!

You can watch the video here.

So, how well does Aaron really know Sanya? You can find out in the Sept. 8, 2008 issue of ESPN the Magazine in the article For Love Or The Game.

  • FROM HEALTH TO WEALTH

How much is your health worth?

Interesting question... and according to an article in the Sept. 22, 2008 issue of TIME magazine (page 74) investing in healthy living now may add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars later in life.

Here are a couple of interesting points from the article:

-- "Most people save for retirement by focusing on their wealth. But you may accomplish more by focusing on your health. That's because the out-of-pocket costs for diseases that may be avoidable through diet and exercise can be staggering. Getting and staying fit now may be worth tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars later--a sum that just might exceed the carefully crafted stockpile in your 401(k)."

-- "Obese people spend a third more than fit people on health services and three-quarters more on medications..."

-- "Not buying cigarettes alone can add up to more than $100,000 if you stop at age 40 and invest the difference conservatively until age 65."

-- "Get moving. Exercise and diet are keys to avoiding high blood pressure and heart disease, which together have annual costs to the individual of $606, according to Nationwide's analysis. Investing that sum for 25 years may provide more than $35,000."

If you don't have a copy of TIME magazine, you can read the full article here on TIME's website.

So, how are you investing in your health??

  • The power of Nutrilite

Many of those who are loyal followers of this blog know that Nutrilite, via Team Nutrilite, is very active with some key athletes and events around the country.  We have at our fingertips the success stories of Asafa Powell, Sanya Richards, Jenn Stuczynski, Ronaldinho and Liu Xiang.  We have a strong presence at five key track and field events each year.  We also work at the local level with up and coming things like the Grand Haven Beach Vault presented by Nutrilite.

Well, another partnership that we have that may fly under the radar a little bit is with the Grand Rapids Rampage of the Arena Football League.

The Grand Rapids Rampage franchise dates all the way back to the Arena Football League’s first game in 1987. Originally the Washington Commandos, the team became the Detroit Drive in 1988 and, in 1994, became the Massachusetts Marauders for one season. Three years later, DP Fox Ventures, L.L.C. bought the team and moved it to Grand Rapids. Only the Tampa Bay Storm (then the Pittsburgh Gladiators) join the Rampage in claiming ties to the AFL’s inaugural season.

The Rampage officially took the field in Grand Rapids in 1997 and recently finished up a successful 11th season with a fantastic run to the American Conference Championship game.  The fuel for that success?  Well, it could be said that Nutrilite played a key role.

Nutrilite is the official dietary supplement provider for the Rampage.  The coaching staff believes very strongly in the value of proper nutrition and worked with us to provide the players and staff with the following products: Glucosamine, Echinacea, Daily, Rhodiola, Concentrated Fruits & Vegetables, Meal Replacement Bars, Energy Bars and Protein Shakes.

What was the benefit?  Well, several have shared their testimonials with us already and more are on the way.  These are strong stories that support our tremendous brand:

"Nutrilite products make me feel more energetic and help supplement my diet to give my body the nutrients I need when training." - Zach Ville, DL

"I like the variety of Nutrilite products especially the Echinacea. I feel that this really helps keep me from getting sick during the season. I can really tell when I don't take the vitamins on a regular basis as I just don't feel as energetic. My family and I are big believers in the benefits of the Nutrilite product line." - Brian Gowins, Kicker

"As the football season is long, I feel that the Nutrilite vitamins give me an extra edge especially at the end of the season. I also feel that the protein shakes are convenient as I can drink one if I don't have time to get back home for lunch or dinner." - TJ Watkins, FB

"Nutrilite is the nutritional foundation for our team. Their products give us the competitive advantage in keeping our players healthy and ready for competition. I recommend Nutrilite to everyone, but especially for athletes." - Coach Paul Reinke

These are all powerful statements that add power and credibility to the Nutrilite story. As more come in, we'll be sure to share.

  • Full-page ad in today’s USA TODAY

After being down for a few weeks, I wasn't quite sure where to start with this blog entry...

As I sat back and reflected on our time apart, it occurred to me that the whole ethos of the movement we watched unfold over the last few weeks is based on faith in progress and excellence. This seems like an appropriate place to start, because I truly believe that Nutrilite is the finest example in the vitamin, mineral and supplement market of progress and excellence - constantly striving to the best of nature, best of science.

Because of this, we are incredibly particular about the athletes we sponsor... All of our athletes compete on the world's biggest stages, and due to the nature of these high-profile events, every day they are held to higher standards then athletes in many other professional sports. I guess you could say that's why they are such a great fit with the Nutrilite brand, which also holds itself to higher standards then its competitors in the vitamin, mineral & supplement market.

Right now our excitement and pride for our sponsored athletes is so great, that it's something we feel should be shared with the entire country... and that's exactly what we're going to do!

Today’s issue of USA TODAY will feature a full-page, four-color ad that highlights four of our Team Nutrilite athletes and congratulates them on their recent successes. The ad points out that what "these 2008 medal-winning athletes have in common" is NUTRILITE® vitamins, minerals, and dietary supplements.

    The four featured athletes are:

Sprinter Asafa Powell, 2008 gold medal winner

Sprinter Sanya Richards, 2008 gold and bronze medal winner

Soccer great Ronaldinho, 2008 bronze medal winner

Pole vaulter Jenn Stuczynski, 2008 silver medal winner

Be sure to get to newsstands on Tuesday, September 2 to pick up several copies of USA Today!

  • Off to the Olympics!

A lot of things can happen when you take a long weekend to celebrate our nation's birthday...

As many of you may be aware, the past week or so has been a key time for U.S. Olympic hopefuls.  Two of our very own - Sanya Richards and Jenn Stuczynski - were right in the thick of things themselves.  Both came through in a big way and move on to Beijing to represent the United States in the Olympics.

Jenn vaulted her way to yet another American record, besting her previous record with a 16-1.75 vault that brought a sellout crowd in Eugene to its feet.  It wasn't an easy day for Jenn, however, as she missed on her first two attempts of the day and had to make an emotional third attempt just to stay in the running.  Once she cleared that first bar, there was no looking back and not a person left as she broker her own American record and then made two more attempts at the world record (16-5.75). All in all, it was a record-setting weekend for Jenn, as she not only re-set the American record, she also set the Olympic Trials, National Championships, Hayward Field and U.S. All Comers records.

Sanya - No. 1 ranked in the world for the women's 400m - was fast out of the gate and strong at the end for nearly a one second victory in the 400m.  The victory was sweet redemption for Sanya, who finished a disappointing 4th at the 2007 Nationals.

Sanya's run wasn't quite the roller coaster ride that Jenn's was, but both are at the top of their game with 8-8-08 looming less than a month away.

  • Two Team Nutrilite athletes make WSJ's Top Ten

The Wall Street Journal recently gave the performance stats and achievement records of 79 male athletes to a panel of 5 judges, and asked them to rank the competitors based on six criteria: speed; vision and reflex; stamina and recovery; coordination and flexibility; power, strength and size; and success and competitiveness.

The result? Well, it includes two Team Nutrilite athletes and the one male left off (though still recognized as the leader in one of the performance categories) may well run himself back into the Top 10 in the very near future.

Without further ado - The Journal's Top 10.

  • Put Team Nutrilite to work for you

Team Nutrilite has been on the road a lot already this year, starting with the OC Marathon and recently wrapping up a five-event swing through some key track & field events (Boston Indoor Games, Tyson Invitational, Adidas Track Classic, Reebok Grand Prix and Nike Prefontaine Classic). But just because the main events are behind us for 2008 doesn't mean that there isn't ample opportunity to put Team Nutrilite to work for you this summer.

Summer is chock full of occasions perfect for promoting Nutrilite and Nutrilite Sports Nutrition products through Team Nutrilite.  Soccer, baseball and basketball tournaments abound for our kids.  Sports camps are all over the calendar.  "So what does that mean for me?" you ask.  Well, it means multiple chances to put the Booth & Event Sales Rule to work for you and your business.

Heck, if you're already committed to being at your son or daughter's sporting event for a weekend and if there is the ability to set up shop, why not take advantage?  Invest in a 10 x 10 canopy (available through Quixtar Partner Store ***'s Sporting Goods). You can even get sides to enclose the canopy.  Use the images that are available via the CD-ROM you receive when you register for your booth to create a Team Nutrilite or Nutrilite Sports Nutrition look and feel to your canopy.  If it's a soccer tournament, we have a great Ronaldinho poster available, as well as jerseys and even a soccer ball (coming soon).  Prepare yourself with product knowledge and bring the types of products to sell that people will be seeking - energy drinks, sports drinks, water, energy bars and more.

Combine your time, efforts and selling the products at suggested retail (or above) and viola, your weekend will be more than just great fun and memories, it could also be a smashing success.  And, don't forget, we have four world-class track & field athletes that will be competing to be the best of the best in their sports in less than two months.  Host a watch party and let your friends and neighbors sample products.  Go for your own gold - put Team Nutrilite to work for you this summer.

Do you have a great success story to share with us?  Any tips & tricks or secrets to success that you can share?  How have you put Team Nutrilite to work for your business?

  • Packed House at the Pre

This past weekend marked the 34th annual Nike Prefontaine Classic track & field event, held in Eugene, Oregon.  Team Nutrilite was there once again, proudly displaying the Nutrilite brand amongst all the action.   As the crowd cheered on, Sanya Richards raced to yet another Women's 400-meter victory with a time of 50.10.  This excitement carried on in the Nutrilite tent as race attendees patiently waited for Sanya's autograph.  In addition to Sanya, attendees also had a chance to meet Asafa Powell.  Liu Xiang, who was a tentative participant in the 110-meter Hurdles, decided just prior to his race that he would indeed be running.  However, he was disqualified after a false start.   When asked what happened, Liu stated "nothing happened.  I didn't even realize I had the false start."

As we wrapped up our final track & field sponsored-event prior to the Olympic trials, the Nutrilite team was able to provide consumers with a broader knowledge of of who we are!  People were very excited about the Rhodiola 110, the new Energy Bars and the Sports Drinks that have been provided at each event.  This track and field season has been a great success for Nutrilite.  We hope you had a chance to either be a participant at an event or share in the excitement from your own home!  We'd love to hear your feedback about any of the events.

Continue to cheer for our athletes as they enter into the summer events, each of them with the ultimate goal in site...

  • Team Nutrilite is at the "Pre"

Catch Team Nutrilite athletes Sanya Richards (Women's 400 Meters) and tentatively Liu Xiang (110 Meter Hurdles) live on Sunday, June 8 on NBC from 1 to 3 p.m. PT (4 to 6 p.m. ET )and look for the myriad ways the Nutrilite brand is represented on and around the track.

    Of note...

    • Sanya, the American record holder for the 400 meter sprint, wants to be first off her block to defend her American record.
    • Even though Asafa will not be running due to a minor injury, he will be available for a "meet and greet" with fans, along with Sanya.
    • An estimated 250 IBOs will attend the event with 50 of them as VIPs with great seats and special access to Asafa and Sanya during the event, a T-shirt commemorating the event, and a complimentary 10 day supply of Double X.
    • The Prefontaine Classic is the premiere track & field meet in the United States, and the only stop in North America on the prestigious World Athletics Tour. Since 2000, it has been ranked first among all annual track & field meets outside of Europe by the IAAF, the international governing body for the sport.
    • Athletes must be ranked in the Top 50 in the world in their events to be eligible to compete in this elite track & field showcase.
    • Attendance at the meet, held each year at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, has traditionally been the largest in the United States. Each of the meets for the past ten years has seen standing-room-only sell-out crowds.

  • Two More Victories for Team Nutrilite Athletes

The Reebok Grand Prix was the site of two more victories for Jenn Stuczynski and Sanya Richards.  Despite the severe storms and lengthy delays, Jenn vaulted to yet another victory while Sanya breezed to a win in the 400-meter Sprint. Liu Xiang pulled out of the 110-meter hurdle event due to a tight hamstring, but graciously addressed his supporters in the stands.

Jenn slightly missed the 16 ft, 5-1/2 inch mark while attempting to go for the world record in the Pole Vault event.  She still managed to beat the field by nearly a foot to take first place honors.   Sanya was also a winner in her event with a time of 50.04 - a whole 2/3 of a second faster than her next competition.

After three years as the "World's Fastest Man," Asafa Powell's world record in the men's 100M sprint was broken by fellow Jamaican, Usain Bolt. Bolt squeaked past Asafa's record by .02 seconds on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at the Reebok Grand Prix with a time of 9.72.  Asafa, who has not been competing recently due to injury, looks forward to getting back on the track this summer and reclaiming his "World's Fastest Man" title. Asafa's return to racing is highly anticipated given this newly heated battle for the world record, and is sure to capture tremendous exposure and excitement during the coming months. We hope everyone will share in the excitement and rally to support our world class sprinter and original member of Team Nutrilite as the drama on the track unfolds this summer.

Make sure to check out the Nike Prefontaine Classic next Sunday, June 8 LIVE on NBC from 1pm - 3pm PT (4pm - 6pm ET).
