Matt Leinart, Local Hero
His deeds are not defensible, but understandable
Concerning the Final Four: I'm rooting for UCLA, but have to admit to thinking Memphis might just get my Bruins. And gimme North Carolina over Kansas. But, as I've said, there's not a clue in my brain of who is going to win the NCAA championship. If forced to chose a single team, I'd stick with the Tar Heels. (Not Niggy Tardust.) Or maybe the Bruins.
Speaking of Hollywood(-ish), Last blog I rode pretty hard on So-Cal spoiled kid Matt Leinart. Also, last fall in my community magazine I wrote of his " they practically had to pry Leinart from the joint with a crowbar." Joint being USC.
The thus-far mediocre Arizona Cardinals quarterback now looks like he's stuck in college, and a borderline retarded campus life at that. "Underachiever and not-un-proud," that could be Leinart's slogan. Or Reggie Bush's, at first glance at least. Maybe it's time to start talking about Pete Carroll's ability to finish grooming his players. Or maybe Leinart ought to require strip searches at his wild parties.
Seriously. Who's USC's version of Maurice Jones-Drew, its underachiever? (Justin Fargas, maybe.) But seriously, Trojan faithful, Hollywood shouldn't be raising your kids, know what I mean? Where has Mike Williams gone?
