Careful What You Wish For
Vulnerability is the price of success
One of the advantages of using a Macintosh is the dearth of viruses, Trojan horses, and other malware. Many people thought that had something to do with the inherent security of the operating system, but that was untrue. The open secret was that malicious hackers went for market share and the percentage of Apple owners was a mere fraction of those using Windows PCs.
But 2007 was a great year for Apple, and with the unprecedented growth spurt, the Macintosh OS is now in the cross hair of those techno-miscreants.
If you have a Mac, be sure to run Software Update. The new update for Leopard and Tiger operating systems fixes 41 detected vulnerabilities. And if you have a MacBook or MacBook Pro (yikes), be sure to get that update too.
It's the unfortunate price of success.
