Looking Good!

By Juliana Luecking/MOLI

Our hot booth was humming with excitement and possibilities

This past weekend, one guy at the Miami Book Fair International returned to the MOLI booth more than once, then admitted that he thought we had more cute authors than any other booth. It's true, and there's The View's editorial director, Evelyn McDonnell, and writers Cathay Che, and Jana Martin pictured to prove it. Looking good indeed, and our other author, Donnell Alexander (not pictured) is, trust me, a total fox.

(Did you know you just have to feel good to look good?)

In the midst of a tent town including Antiquarian Annex and Children's Alley, Thai and Colombian vendors (okay, I had more than one arepa), and a huge crowd dominated by Spanish-language speakers, more than 400 writers signed books and felt crisp cash in hand for each book sold. At MOLI's tent we had giveaways galore, including a print version of our online magazine, the View, and fancy bookmarks inviting readers to join the MOLI Book Club.

At our booth, in the midst of hundreds of exhibitors under clear, sunny skies, we did our best to introduce MOLI to smart people who love books. It was fun, but kind of like meeting my girlfriend's family for the first time: I want to be myself, but I also want to make a good, lasting impression. (Yes, I am the one for your daughter!)

You sure brought the Book Fair to life for me - although I wasn't there, I sure felt like I was.
