Alright You Crazy Kids
Biz Markie and others rock out on new Nick Jr. show
Okay. I'm not normally big on children's television programming, but how can you not love this: Starting August 20, Nickelodeon's Nick Jr. will begin airing a new kid's show called Yo Gabba Gabba! Along with bizarre singing and dancing characters like Muno the Red Cyclops and host DJ Lance Rock (who's a dead ringer for a teenage Bootsy Collins), the show will feature musical guest stars like the Shins, Rahzel, Cornelius, and Mya. Geek geniuses Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo) and Biz Markie will also be featured on each episode in segments titled, respectively: Mark's Magic Pictures and Biz's Beat of the Day.
Biz's instructional interlude, which teaches kids how to beatbox a new beat every episode, is guaranteed to make parents crazy – which means it's sure to be a hit with kids. Non-musical guests already slated to appear include actor Elijah Wood and skateboarding legend Tony Hawk.
The title, which marries Yo! MTV Raps with the Ramones, pretty much says it all. And if that's not enough to suck you in, try on this video of the adorable green thing, Brobee, singing "Party In My Tummy." Resistance is futile…
