Artist speaks the language of love in new book
Is there anything
Miranda July can't do? The quirky visionary's brilliant 2005 film "Me and You and Everyone We Know," about a lonely performance artist's romantic obsession with a shoe salesman, was an intoxicating commentary on the blissful, painful and hilarious contortions humans put themselves through in the name of love. July, who is a well-known performance artist in real life, also wrote, directed and starred in the film — which takes its place seamlessly alongside other projects like her 2005 interactive web creation
Learning To Love You More. Now July has released a collection of 16 fictional short stories called
No One Belongs Here More Than You.
Published by Scribner in May, the themes, naturally, are love, fear, and the quest for acceptance – July's gushing well of inspiration. It's sure to elicit a sympathetic squirm or two as it sorts through all the heartbreak and jubilation intrinsic to the game of love.
