Back in the early 20th century, there was a trend of photographing large numbers of people (mainly military personnel) who had been choreographed to pose as "living" representations of cultural and patriotic icons. While there is nothing unique about the phenomenon of photographing humans to form an image or a phrase, the sheer numbers and the labor involved is jaw dropping.

With the "New York Post" reporting that NBC fired 90 percent of its "Saturday Night Live" staff on Friday and Columbia Pictures announcing that it will postpone production on "Angels and Demons" (director Ron Howard's big-budget follow-up to "The Da Vinci Code"), it appears that the Writers Guild of America is starting to see big results — both positive and negative — from the strike it launched November 5.
