About Lesley Scott

View Profile

Lesley Scott

Based in New York City, Lesley Scott is the Editor in Chief and Publisher of Fashiontribes, five online fashion and lifestyle magazines released quarterly. Each magazine has a different theme based on the personality and taste of the reader; Afro Love, Downtown Doll, Fancy Flirt, Global Chic and Rock Punk. Afro Love is dedicated to the combination of high fashion and social consciousness while Downtown Doll combines vintage and designer finds to meld the two worlds together. Fancy Flirt is the social butterfly who likes to dress well, Global Chic is the lady who searches out fashion finds around the world and Rock Punk is fashion for the diverse music lover.

Prior to Fashiontribes, Lesley set the standard by being one of the first to blog directly from the New York City Fashionweek runway shows. She was also the Senior Editor of Coolhunt, a company dedicated to discovering global trends. Currently, in addition to Fashiontribes, Lesley is also a columnist for the Fashion Designer section of Suite 101.

And you're going to do it all online.

What Cool People Do
By Jana Martin/MOLI

MJ Diehl has a slightly brassy, loud, vibrant voice, a New York City playground voice, the kind that can holler your name across the blacktop and cut through noises of children, traffic, honking, anything. She's got the over-the-crowd, easy lung power of an MC — say, an MC at a fashion show in which the clothes are not actually made until the party starts. Which will be useful for tomorrow night, when she MCs the House of Diehl Style Wars New York Style Battle Championship.

Design Can Save Us
By Jana Martin/MOLI

Tuesday brought more harsh, dry wind to fan the fires in Southern California where, as I'm writing this, 300,000 people are out of their homes and 374 square miles are burning. Watching footage of a firefighting plane, I thought about my 77-year-old cousin Lene (pronounced Lah-Nay), who was married to a man obsessed with the design of firefighting aircraft. His ideal love object was the Superscooper.
