Varda Hardy

As a young girl growing up in Israel, Varda Hardy was mesmerized by the first movie she saw in an outdoor movie theatre. It was at that moment she knew she wanted to be a filmmaker. With the motto of "Anything is Possible" Varda is not confined by personal limitations or boundaries for her accomplishments and success. Her belief is to push through the difficulties and not fear the unknown. Varda has a BA from Cornell University, an MFA in filmmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute and has taken numerous courses at NYU. Along with her education, her determination and spirit have made her the success she is today.

When I pulled Jon Krakauer's bestselling book "Into the Wild" off the shelf a few weeks ago, I did not anticipate reviewing Sean Penn's filmic interpretation. I simply wanted a good read. I'm damn glad I got my hands on the book first. It set my expectations for the film unreasonably high. Not only did Penn's take on the story meet those expectations, it gave sparkling, believable life to the dormant subtext.
