On November 2 to 4, Cavestomp — that most venerated of '60s garage- and punk-preserving institutions — will welcome the reunited Sonics to Brooklyn's Warsaw club for two shows. We were blown away when the festival brought '60s obscurities the Monks together to perform at the Big Apple's Westbeth Theatre in 1999. But of all the rock 'n' roll reunions that I've witnessed, heard of, or dreamed about, this is the biggie.

An audio exploration of the sound-sculpture installation "Rainforest IV" that went up at New York City performance space the Kitchen over the weekend, Saturday's "Weekend America" segment started with sounds that seemed unmistakably Amazonian. Perhaps the title helped paint the picture, but I was so certain that what I was hearing were the sounds of chirping crickets, squawking birds, and screeching monkeys that it was pretty amusing when the narrator finally revealed the truth.
