Alison Learns Important Swedish Phrases, Like, "Is This Dress Too Slutty?"
Courtesy of Fashionista

Hip Swedes flock to Stockholm's Weekday, a local streetwear superstore, to pick up their denim, sneakers, and plenty more.

The makers of Cheap Mondays (practically a national uniform hwew) also sell another brand, called MTWTFSS, which are also cool and cheap, but come in a larger variety of fits (not just skinny!) more accommodating to um, American body types.

Is The New: Vuitton Pochette and Dior Pouch?
Courtesy of Fashionista

About ten years ago, girls in boarding school stole their mother's Louis Vuitton pochettes, which were kept inside larger handbags to hold makeup, keys, and other travel necessities. The girls transformed the bags into actual purses, often linking a Vuitton keychain into the strap to make it longer and easier to carry.

Holographic Diesel Show
Courtesy of Cool Hunting

Last week, at the Pitti Immagine Fashion Fair in Florence, Diesel wowed the style crowds with an impressive multimedia show. Using CGI technology, projected motion graphics of models and creatures from the deep created the illusion that they were moving together down the runway along with live models.

The show, entitled "Liquid Space," played with concepts of metamorphosis as strange hybrid forms of man, machine and sea creature appeared to float through space. Weaving their way around the actual models, these creatures transformed into animated models wearing the collection and then the clothes dissolved into millions of glittering fishes. The format and style of the traditional fashion show has been played with by many designers, but with this show Diesel moved into a new creative realm, combining fashion and 3D animation technology in front of a live audience.

Amelia Earhart's Lost Clothing Line
Courtesy of Fashionista

Amelia Earhart may best be known for piloting planes - but what about fashion trends?

The July issue of Smithsonian features a piece on the late legend from a surprisingly sartorial perspective.

Apparently, Earhart had a penchant for wearing beautifully-tailored clothing. She was best known for her riding outfits, which kept in step with the equestrian-inspired trends of the 1930s - and which, in turn, inspired Alvin Valley's most recent runway line (Proenza had a few items on their catwalk for lift-off, too).
