In the early '90s, Rich Dennis and Nyema Tubman, the co-owners of Nubian Heritage, took their commitment to all natural skin care products for African Americans to the streets. Literally. Old friends Dennis and Tubman started selling pure shea butter as street vendors in New York City. They became so popular that they not only expanded the line, but the whole operation as well. Nubian Heritage has gone from a single lotion to a community-based business and lifestyle brand. There are currently Nubian Heritage stores in Brooklyn, Queens, and the 22,000 square-foot flagship in Harlem, where MOLI checked out the skin and hair care products, home furnishings, cafe, and up and coming day spa.
