"Bee Movie" Buzz

Lodged in a strip mall between a Hooters restaurant and a Tequila Rain nightclub is the Novi, Michigan, Emagine theater complex. It's big, it's ugly, and, like nearly everything in Novi, it lives right next to the freeway. But on Monday, the mammoth eyesore was transformed into a hotbed of Hollywood excitement as comedian Jerry Seinfeld paid an in-the-flesh visit to Emagine to shake hands and kiss babies on behalf of his new, animated DreamWorks collaboration, "Bee Movie."

Conchords Take Off

If you've been watching the HBO series every Sunday like I have, most of these songs are repeats. They still come off just as funny and entertaining on CD, as you begin to notice little pieces of music or vocal flares that make the tracks vibrant. The versions here have that studio polish, minus the live cuts of course, but carry the same comedic weight without having to watch them. Jemaine and Bret are just so loveable, like an upgraded Smothers Brothers with better vocabulary and cultural zing.

Leave it to Larry David to make a vice out of donating money to a worthy cause. In last night's episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," the self-obsessed celeb is outraged when he learns that he has been upstaged by friend and neighbor Ted Danson when each man donated to the real-life environmentalist group the Natural Resources Defense Council. You see, unlike Larry's, Ted's donation is "anonymous."
