Critter Song

Created by clay animator, Ryan McCulloch, Critter Song is a delightful musical with a comical tinge about fantasy critters living in a forest. Ryan has been writing and animating his own films for the past 10 years. His clay-animated shorts have been screened at the National Gallery Of Art in Washington D.C. and have appeared in over 50 film festivals around the world, winning awards in over half of the competitive festivals. Ryan has also produced 4 short films and segments for HBO and HBO Family, an educational film for Partnership For a Drug Free America, as well as 8 environmental commercials for Vacaville and Rohnert Park. Ryan has been invited to speak on animation at a number of schools, and participate as a judge at such prestigious film festivals as The Palm Springs International Short Film Festival. He's spent the last five years studying Illustration and Character Design at the Academy Of Art University in San Francisco, and studied art and history at the Scuola Lorenzo Di Medici in Florence, Italy. Ryan is currently working on the development of the Fox & Calf animated series, which will be released exclusively on MOLI. Courtesy of Ryan McCulloch on MOLI.com.

3-D Revolution
By Wendy Case/MOLI

3-D cinema ain't just greasy kid stuff anymore. No longer relegated to the B-movie ghetto, digital 3-D is fast becoming the industry standard in Hollywood. "Wired" magazine reports that "nearly every major studio" has a 3-D project scheduled for 2008-2009 release and, according to Fox co-chair Jim Gianopulos, the new technology represents "a bigger quantum leap than talkies ... a complete transformation of the medium."

Evil Grows in Gotham
By Wendy Case/MOLI

Somebody needs to send Robert Redford an invitation to New York's Evil City Film Fest. Described in its MOLI profile as "a killer schedule of downtown events featuring a program of the latest in truly independent films, insightful filmmaker panels, and alcohol-saturated after-parties," it sounds like a lot more fun than freezing your poncy ass off at Sundance.

Comics — Seriously
By Richard Pachter/MOLI

Until quite recently and with few exceptions, the comics business was owned and operated solely by companies employing freelance writers and artists paid on a per-page basis with none of the benefits typically accorded salaried employees. But creators still seek to create businesses to serve their needs — and not the other way around.

Really, really sweet characters with a soul. Vibrant colors, bits of unexpected humor and totally original music. The internet needs more of this level of quality animation.
