Ok, so where do people go for:

    (1)  PING  PONG

    (2)  POOL

    (3)  TENNIS

    (4)  POKER

I haven't really looked for ping pong -- but I am interesting in finding a place with good tables and enough space to actually play (ie: bars would not be good).

For pool, bars seem ok.  Gatsby's has good tables -- although they no longer have free pool from 12noon to 6pm on the weekends anymore.

Tennis -- it seems most places to live have tennis courts -- but are any well kept?   The ones were I currently live are right next to a large highway (loud, pollution, balls over fench = playing in traffic).

Poker.  Most places are limit and/or lame.  IE:  Many bars have poker several nights a week, but the play is little more than random chance (ie: all in, every time... did I win (yet?)).  Alternatively, some bars are loud, it *is* a bar, so sometime people can get rowdy/drunk/aggressive.   There's the poker cruise -- and this might be good once in a while, as it's no limit and no smoking -- but it's basically a 6+ hour affair.  Dog track -- tables are bingo at the river -- 1 - 2 limit might as well be a raffle.
