Dec 14 - Delivered 110 books, Brooke Army Medical

Description:
About my visit: "It was a miserable, rainy day yet the huge Hospital was doing a brisk business and the Surgeon General's wife was visiting on a VIP tour. When I approached the main security-information desk, I asked for the Captain who had arranged for my visit.

To my surprise the uniformed guard on duty reached forward to shake my hand and said, 'You're the book guy. Thanks so much for doing this for our soldiers.'

Giving is truly a blessing - what you receive is so much grander than the value of the gifts you leave behind. I wish I would have been able to have a picture of each of those heores with a copy of Catalyst in their hand and a smile on their face."

Dear Mr. Harvey:
"I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your donation of 110 copies of your book Catalyst. Your generosity is a wonderful gesture that will serve as a reminder to the troops and their families that their service has not gone unnoticed. It lets them know that their hard work and diligence are truly appreciated and that they are in the hearts and minds of those whose freedom they protect and defend.

It's great to know that these heroes are appreciated by all as their recovery continues. These service members and their families deserve special recognition for their bravery and dedication to their country. My personal thanks and appreciation go out to all who made this possible."

Sincerely,
Julie Zavage

The multi-storied medical treatment facility is the primary structure in the medical complex. It has 1.5 million square feet of operational space and a normal bed capacity of 450, of which 48 are ICU beds and 40 are dedicated to the Institute of Surgical Research Burn Unit.

The hospital is capable of expanding to 653 beds if needed to support a wartime mobilization. There are 3,314 parking spaces in a circle around the hospital. The majority of these are located near the entrance to the Clinic Building because BAMC clinics support approximately 640,000 outpatient visits annually.
