Kamakura is a small sea-side city about one hour's drive from Aodabai. The streets are filled with tourist shops, but there are also some small specialty food places. Purple sweet potato is very popular in this particular city. It was in croquettes, made into potato chips, pasta, even ice cream. We also tumbple onto a shop that made products from Ume, a type of plum. We snatched up several goodies made with ume, including dried salted ume to cut up into salads and pastes for dipping vegetables. There was no need for lunch that day after all the food sampling we did!
