Wait! Not So Fast.

Description:
After a major public outcry at their first set of proposed regulations for people with hand-held cameras, the NYC Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre, and Broadcasting (MOFTB) issued a second version of proposed regulations this week. If you're not a lawyer and you read the document closely, you'll pause to wonder a lot. That's what I've done the last few days, so I made this video, "Wait! Not So Fast." There will be a public hearing about the regulations on December 13, but, in the meantime, the office welcomes comments at message@film.nyc.gov.

The videos are funny, because the regulations are so absurd. "Wait! Not So Fast" is the third I've made on the subject, but if you're not familiar with the issue, you also should see the other two: "Wait! What? Get a Permit to Make a Video?" and "Wait! Now What?"

Another good place to get in on the action is Picture New York, where a group of activists and artists have gathered, among other things, 31,000 signatures on a petition against the last set of proposed regulations. You can also download the PDF of the proposed regulations from the mayor's office's press release.
