Ricochet: Jazz Me Up

Bend my brain with that trombone, why don't you?

When my brain is in a pickle — I mean, when my thought processes are stuck in a muck of troubles — it means my creativity takes a downward plunge. Often, I put on my coat and stride out the door to a neighborhood joint, usually Barbes or Freddy's, and catch a classical quartet or a kickin' jazz set. This night, it was an Israeli jazz trombonist leading her band, R*Time. Listen and you'll hear brain-bending stuff.

The concept for the video series, "Ricochet: Thought to Idea," is pretty simple. I shoot images and match them with my spoken-word pieces: funny stories about something that really happened, or an abstract concoction of things that bounce through my mind. They're little art videos that make you think. (By the way, what are you thinking right now?)
