Cradle of Filth
Thornography
(Roadrunner)
Released: October 17, 2006

***PRESS RELEASE***
It was in the bleak, grim, machine-driven cities of England that metal was born, and to this day, that devastated landscape breeds some of the genre's finest & darkest. From brutal distortion and speed to goth-pop incantations, England's Cradle of Filth continues to devour souls and shred necromancy on their newest black metal exorcism, Thornography, out October 17th on Roadrunner Records.

Love 'em or hate 'em, there's no denying Cradle of Filth elicits a strong response and is deserving of your attention. From 2004's Grammy-nominated Nymphetamine (which sold over 140,000 records in the U.S.) to remaining the #1 most requested band at Hot Topic (America's leading source for all things pop sub-culture and music related), the band has had quite their share of success and longevity over the past 12 years.

Combining the cut-throat riffs of axmen Paul Mender and Charles Hedger, the thunder of bassist Dave Pybus and the deafening drums of Adrian Erlandsson against the catchy, yet conceptual cries of "crypt-crawling master" vocalist Dani Filth, COF culminates into a symphonic sensory experience to be heard and felt - making all those in doubt, true believers. Cradle of Filth even know how to make Heaven 17's classic pop single, "Temptation" outrageously seditious!

With Thornography, Cradle of Filth again pushes buttons in all directions. With song titles including "Under Pregnant Skies She Comes," "The Foetus Of A New Day Kicking," and "Rise Of The Pentagram," the band, lives up to the name that has continued to be one of the most recognizable to spawn from black metal's ever-growing horde.

And so to 2006, where Cradle Of Filth find themselves in the enviable position of being in a league and class of their own. Having long since outstripped the achievements of their one-time contemporaries, the band is now firmly entrenched in a rich vein of form. The current line-up of Dani Filth, guitarists Paul Allender and Charles Hedger, bassist Dave Pybus and drummer Adrian Erlandsson is the most solid and powerful in the band's career and Thornography is the resounding, conclusive proof. With songs as brutish, bombastic and diverse as Libertina Grimm, Tonight In Flames, Cemetery & Sundown, I Am The Thorn, The Byronic Man (featuring HIM's Ville Valo on guest vocals) and a deranged cover of Heaven 17's '80s pop gem Temptation, the world's biggest and best extreme metal band have never sounded so exhilarating, so vital, so venomous.
