Thanks to technological advances in sewing machines, notions and even fabric design, the market for sewing-related products has exploded into a mindboggling $30 billion affair - annually. “Things have changed since the dreaded High School home economics class,” notes Lori Petitti, a network television producer. “Computerized sewing machines, sergers, machine quilting and user friendly notions have changed the face of sewing. The market is now geared towards the modern consumer, one who can download the latest embroidery design online or surf for designer fabric in New York.”

Instructional videos, however, have failed to keep pace.

Displaying the can-do spirit of the typical sewing enthusiast, Petitti put her TV savvy to use, creating a series of DVDs specializing in fun and fast sewing projects for a broad range of users. Featuring easy chapter indexing, true pause functions and the ability to jump around between the various areas of instruction, each DVD also contains downloadable patterns, overviews and additional instruction. "Technology benefits everyone. The younger generation grew up on it and expects it, baby boomers have embraced it and for an older generation, it makes life simpler,” says Petitti. "We empower people who want to learn to sew or improve on their current skills. We bring the sewing class environment into your home with professional educators and designers. We also put in a big dose of fun - because sewing IS fun."
