Lee Channing-Radio Host & Animal Welfare Advocate

Description:
About Lee Channing:

Lee's wealth of Animal Communication knowledge and committment to her Animal Healing Circle has evolved over the past 40 years. She has been working in/for animal rights since the mid-1970's when she joined Greenpeace.

She is an avid supporter of HSUS, The Fund for Animals, Black Beauty Ranch, API, etc. as well as being a past-president of a local animal rights' group called Voices for Animals.

In fact, ILee continues to take time away from her hectic radio show schedule to volunteer at a local Feral Cat Clinic sponsored by Voices and held at the local SPCA. At the last clinic they neutered 92 feral cats in a day (four vets full time)

As Lee says, "It's an amazing process. I'm the Pre-Surgical Monitor which means I get the cats after they're prepared for surgery and watch them for breathing/heart problems then take them into surgery. I get to hold the big boys (the females are on boards for the vets). The big feral males are so amazing - scars and ticks, etc. - many never touched by a human, but we clean them up - like a trip to the spa. They get neutered, brushed, flea treatment, ears cleaned, shots, extra fluids, etc. It's amazing - we have clinics in the fall and spring."

Research shows that you have to do these clinics for a number of years to really affect the feral cat population. These cats have humans who are responsible for their care, but they go back to their feral communities.
