As expected, Wyclef has once again created another musical masterpiece consistent with his earlier projects. Having followed his musical talent from when he originated with the Tranzlator Crew (The Fugees) with such classics as "Vocab" and "Boof Baf" to his most recent mixtape "Coming to America" with DJ Scoob Doo, Wyclef's ability to continuously release fresh music with an original sound surpasses all expectations that I had with the release of his new album. "The Carnival Vol. II: Memoirs of an Immigrant" is a new sound in the music world. From the exotic sound of "Hollywood Meets Bollywood" to the chart-topping hit "Sweetest Girl (Dollar Bill)," Wyclef has incorporated every possible genre of music into this album. As with the original "Carnival," he stays true to his Haitian roots and his native soul is manifested in a lot of the tracks most especially "Rouge et Bleu," a proud anthem to his home country. Not only does this album possess a worldly and exotic energy and sound, but the artists with whom Wyclef has stepped into the studio with is quite vast. As always, Wyclef has managed to acquire the talents of both legendary and contemporary artists. The beautiful voice of Niia, an up and coming artist, graces "Sweetest Girl (Dollar Bill)" with an angelic sound while Serj Tankian adds his unique style of singing to the guitar and drum driven "Riot." As expected, Mary J. Blige makes an appearance in "What About the Baby" and T.I. gives a true southern hip-hop flare to "Slow Down." However, there were two other unexpected artists on his new album which only proved Wyclef's ability to utilize other musician's talents and form an amazing amalgam of sounds. The melodic voice of Norah Jones on "Any Other Day" and the legendary singing of Paul Simon on "Fast Car" supplied the album with a deeper sound on top of Wyclef's own. While all of Wyclef's albums, in my personal opinion, will forever be classics, "The Carnival Vol. II: Memoirs of an Immigrant" is his best work yet and will be an everlasting testament to Wyclef's true talent and love for music! Every song is a piece of his heritage and being, and by listening to it, it will give you a view into who he is as a person and a true musician! So, indulge yourself in a new sound, or if you are already a die-hard fan such as myself, pick up the album and enjoy another incredible album by 'Clef!

"Oh What A Night" it was so long ago,
I heard "Nappy Heads" to a skateboard video.
I loved it for reezy, it was "Pullin' Me In",
I played it in my "Mix Show" again and again.
Then there was "The Score", Lauryn's still my chick,
But now 'Clefs "Killing Me Softly" with new beats that are sick.
'Clef said, "Take It Easy", no need to call "911",
"I Am Your Doctor" and I'm prescribing you some fun.
"Ready or Not", here it comes, "Who Gave the Order" for a new mix?
The "Peace God", its Haitian inspired, to give lyrical fiens a new fix.
Carnival was the shiznit, yep an "Instant Request",
but Carnival II's even better, nah "Baby", its the best.
"You Say Keep It Gangsta" for "A Thug Like Me",
but "Mista, Mista" the albums one love for the music "Industry".
From "Thug Angels" to "Cowboys", "Da Cypha" the lyrics and you'll see,
from "Hollywood to Hollywood", from sea to shining sea,
the "Sweetest Girl" and "Perfect Gentlemen" will love these "Carnival" beats,
this "Rebel Music" will have the "New Generation" and the old school tapping their feet!!!

If you knew and loved any of 'Clef's songs mentioned above, you will definitely love Carnival II. Just like the poem speaks about, its very versatile, only to show off more of Wyclef Jean's talents as an artist and musician. It is definitely a Haitian inspired album, which means that the lyrics are heartfelt, real... not just some lyrics from a Top 40 writer. Its HOT! Get yours son... you know what it is!

    ONE LOVE
