  1. CASH-IN OF THE CHRIST by nobodysdriving

    24.Mar.08, 13:55 EDT
I've Been drawing since I was a little kid. I remember my dad asking me what I wanted to do with my life when I was quite young, and I would always tell him that I wanted to be an artist. I was always drawing and every year that passed my work improved drastically. I won a lot of awards for art in my school career, and that fueled my desire to continue my passion. My dad, being the conservative money-minded man he is, would continously tell me to get a real job, saying that art doesn't pay well. I chose to follow my dreams and found out he was right. My relationship with him went sour around age 15 and I have been couch surfing on and off since. Despite being homeless a great deal of the time I stayed enrolled in school and did as well as I could. My grades weren't all that great but my As came from my art classes, and I managed to make money for food and supplies through commisioned work from teachers and kids at school. Due to the awesome generosity of many people and very kind mentors in my life I've had food, places to stay and art supplies to continue my work throughout my school career. I'm 19 now and the struggle continues. I got a job at a silk screen print shop where I've been working for peanuts printing shirts and doing design work for customers. I make a modest 9.50 hourly in Los Angeles, which at the end of the month means you can rent a real dump of an apartment and eat carpet and shoes all day, and thats about it. So I opted to spend my money on food, education and supplies. Between having lived in LA squats and my truck I'm paying my way through a community college hoping to score a few scholarships to get me into a good art school. I currently reside in a married couple's garage, whereas compared to prievious accomodations I live like a king. School supplies, rent and food clean me out though at the end of the month. There was at one point I was living rent free for 3 months, and I had a lot of spare cash to really focus on my art, and as a result I did some of my best work. I could really use that again. Most of my time now is spent working or in a classroom, which unfortunately doesn't give me time enough to even sit down for an hour or two and draw. I have pages of notes, concepts and ideas that I'd like to take further but I have no money or time to pursue them. But enough of my sob story, here's what I've done.

I've got a pretty wide body of work, I've picked up and experimented with just about everything but my favorite medium is paint. I've also included a song from my band Plasturd, we play punk rock and we're all couch surfers, our music kind of reflects the day to day frustrations of life and the messed up things that go on behind closed doors every day. I assure you though in person I'm a pretty upbeat guy. :) Hope you enjoy.

The song is titled Cash-in of the Christ, and above is the cover art I did from the CD cases that we printed and hand made since we couldn't afford professional work or recording. We titled the album appropriately.

my name is brandon spangler, aka bibble and im submitting a song called Beggin' Eggies.

ive been working at transdisciplinary art since i was little. i chose to persue art as a lifestyle only because in america it's so important to have a life"style". i am uncomfortable with the notion of "competing" with others over who is suffering hardest for any number of obvious reasons, yet here i am. i like making things, and i don't intend to stop. i've written volumes of poetry, short stories, screenplays, at least 15 albums, and hundreds of pieces of visual art in mediums as diverse as collage to oils to completely digital and anything and everything in between. many of these pieces were made in collaboration with others, and even if they weren't directly participating, i am indebted to someone for nearly all of them. i release all my work for free on the internet, and i always encourage everyone else to do the same.

  3. Anomie by Bryce Potucek

Hello. I am (and have been for the past two years) a starving artist. The situation that causes my stomach to constantly grumble and my bills to constantly climb higher is only due to the fault of mine that place creativity (and aquisition of the equipment involved) in higher regard than my sustenance and debt. I would like to add a song of mine called "Anomie" (procuced with the music synthesis program, Reason) into the music category. I also produce multimedia paintings on canvas, but I am currently focusing on my aural explorations. to show my current state, I currently have $6.30 to my name, and I am also behind on my electricity bill and internet payments. I am currently going to a community college, with aspirations of one day finding myself at an art school (and the creative design industry shortly thereafter). I thank you for creating a chance like this for artists to show off their imaginative exploits with the possibility of living like a king and having the ability to have a complete focus on one's art for a short (but very benefical) amont of time.

    Shanti

  5. Martin County by Chartt

My name is Chris Chartier but I go by CHARTT.

Im 18 years old and just graduated high school. Thoughout high school I've moved back and forth between high school's never settling in just one place. I always thought differently then everyone else and when I was a junior I started to began to write music and lyrics because it gave me a way to express what my heart was feeling and the things I was going through. My dad would leave to go to Atlanta to work and I would stay in the apartment in South Carolina and he would be gone for 3 months. The lights would shut off and water would too because the bills werent paid. He would come back one weekend adn pay them and leave.

My senior year when I moved back to Florida, in november I was in a need for money and in January I started selling drugs. In 3 days, I saw 300 dollars turn into 1,000 dollars. It seemed like everything was going to be alright. Then one night in febuary I was at a party after I had moved out of my house with my friend BIG D, whom you hear on several of my songs, and I was rolling a blunt when a cop pulled up. He arrested me on the spot and charged me with 2 felonies.

I was in jail for sometime but right now I am out on bond and I have lost everything. I lost all my money, all my people I knew, and my life. I have no money to record at the studio with or nothing. I work as a dishwasher/foodrunner at a seafood restuarant to try to come up with some money. I plan on going to the Audio Recording Technolgy Institute in Orlando, FL for college and get a degree in mixing/mastering and sound engrineering. To make it worse, when I got out on bond, 3 days later, BIG D got locked up and is currently facing 20 years in prision. Everything in my life is upside down. I need some help for the future and really want to make it in this music game. I have the smarts and have a plan.

I wrote the hook but had Big D sing it. Big D is the first verse and I am the second. This song is not finished yet, because I may add another verse at the end and I am having a real singer on the hook.

  6. Global Process ft. Aaron Leighton by noisecontrol

Global Process ft. Aaron Leighton by noisecontrol

Hello, Recently, I've had the opportunity to work with Aaron Leighton from an area near Melbourne Australia. We produced Global Process using his Guitar Riffs, which he uploaded to my web host, and then normalized - compressed - and removed clicks from it. Then I took it into CUBASE, and really went to town on his guitar riffs, and added some keyboard chords. The result is pretty neat, I am sure you will agree. This is my first work with another artist of this caliber, and I think you will agree it is pretty neat. As far as the struggle, you know we are all struggling in an environment rife with DRM battles and copyright suits. To us as starving artists, we really aren't affected by it so much, except that we will never make a really Big Splash, unless we give a lot of stuff away free, which kind of rots. Personally, I am signed with Zoo Moozik, and I hope Aaron and I will be working together for a long time. No one can tell what the future will hold, maybe we'll end up with a Drummer from England or something.....:)
