1. Taking a New Step in A Different Direction...

So this is my first time ever writing a blog.
Not just about acting. In general. Ever.
I think it's the right time. See, I've come at a bit of a pitchfork or crossroads in my life as a thespian and I feel that sharing it with other potential actors out there, it may just prove to be cathartic.
I've been in musical theatre for seven years now. Wow! That seems like a long time, but it has flown by.The thing is, I never planned on going into it as a profession.
Don't get me wrong I always wanted to act, but musical theatre specifically just happened. My training at drama school was very ecclectic and diverse our classes did not follow a stirct regime of one technique, quite the opposite! We went from doing Mamet to Meisner, from clown to Kabuki and from body conditioning to stage combat. Consequently, I got my agent very quickly after leaving school and went for three auditions and got the third one which was for Oh! What A Night- a seventies musical about disco dancing. It has all the ingredients for a great night out. It was the right job to get just out of school, I was seeing the UK and Europe and getting to know the ins and outs of the business. We were on the road for six months and then moved to Hamburg, Germany for sic months which was a huge opportunity in itself! Little did i know it, but these would be the most formative years of life in the industry.

    Hi

I have a 13 year old son.  NO particular talents.....Likes to think he can dance, but he is not outstanding!!!  He however is a drama queen!!!!  Well not so much of the queen..... I sometimes think he should have been a girl.

The thing is he is adamant he would like to persue a possible career in drama.... WE live currently in Spain where Drama schools unlike the UK are few and far between.  As a mum I would like to listen to him and explore any hidden talents opportunities.  Just wondered if you could give me some advice.... I know nothing of your world, it is very alien to me.

Thanks in advance and best wishes.

    Jill

P.S.  I recognise this is forward planning due to his current age!!!  However, I do like to explore any opportunities and listen to his wants/desires/dreams......
