Those creepy American Apparel mannequins

My cousin Nick, who lives in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, wants to know what's up with those creepy American Apparel mannequins. He's an amazing writer of the horror/speculative ilk, and part of the great, immortal writing group WHO WANTS CAKE. I was proud to be an active member for a while. Now I'm just a hanger-on, trying to coat-tail on their marvy success. Cakers are a feisty lot. Nick is not a fan of American Apparel. You might call him an ANTIFAN:
Good stuff, Jana, but oh do I hate American Apparel! They're taking
over my (and your old) neighborhood. We've got two now, within walking
distance from each other, plus at least one more nearby and another one
possibly on the way.
Your next blog topic should be: What's up with American Apparel's creepy
nippled mannequins?
