Jules Smith Designs
makes jewelry that's earthy, sexy, clever, and swell and they're
right here. From bangles to chain necklaces to glammy hoop earrings,
there's a right-now feel to everything they make. On the company's MOLI
homepage, a pair of plump silvery lips sits at anchor along a mythical
Caribbean shore. Those lips have been spotted hanging from such
celebrity necks as Lindsay Lohan's and Leighton Meister's (of Gossip Girl).
Turns out the Saint Thomas-based company's designer, Gina Nigrelli,
has had her finger on the pop-luxe pulse since she worked at Diesel as
a merchandiser (always fun to find out where the talent travels).
Jules Smith is also responsible for the marvelous, mysterious hammered
bangles recently spotted on Cameron Diaz's much-photographed forearms. Where was it that I first heard someone say last fall, Anyone know where Cameron got those cute bangles we keep seeing her in?
My
fave new pieces include "kiss and tell" bracelets: sentiments like
"obsessed," "bff," and "peace" wrought in fat cursive sterling, looped
around the wrist in informal slip-knot closures for a great beachy
feel. The nameplates themselves are rendered in lush .925 sterling
silver, and the rope closures come in properly islandy black, red,
dark-green, turquoise, or yellow. This is the definition of girly resort luxe: tasteful, but cute; bold, but delicate. What better
jewelry for your next escape? Beachy-keen, yo. Me wanty.
