Well. After overdosing on way too many sweets and Sprinkles cupcakes, we've finally decided to give in to the urge of making New Years Resolutions. It's always a good thing to make commitments to live healthier. So we here at Zaji have decided to cook more, exercise more and balance work and family. Basically, try to get a handle on life!
What better way to jumpstart the New Year than heading off to Bikini Bootcamp. We know what you're thinking! However, before you utter another word, close your eyes and see yourself on the Mexican Riviera at a resort called Amansala.
Amansala offers a 6-night Bikini Bootcamp that is limited to 25 men and women, held on the beautiful beach of Tulum, Mexico.
The owners, Melissa and Erica, two best friends from New York decided to create an eco-chic resort that feels more like a beach house than a hotel and incorporates all aspects of good healthy living.
The idea behind Amansala is a holiday you'll remember. A holiday where you'll appreciate nature and "the sand at your doorstep," Erica says. "It's a unique experience where nature is your gym."
If you decide to get that bikini bod, bootcamp starts with a morning beach walk. There's yoga, body sculpting, biking (a 60-mile bike ride for the brave), drumming, belly dancing lessons, kayaking. You get 3 meals every day and a snack. Spa treatments include 2 massages and a full body Mayan clay treatment.
We asked Erica what the atmosphere was like, as it seems a bit intimidating from the gorgeous bodies displayed on Amansala's website.
"All shapes and sizes are welcome. It's not a fat camp. Whether you are training for a marathon or just want to lose a few pounds to feel better...there's no competition. Think of it as a sandbox for adults - celebrating you. Helps you to feel motivated. [Bikini Bootcamp] requires a commitment to change lifestyle patterns."
Tulum is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and is still untouched. No electricity lines and limited cell phone service. "It's in the middle of where the jungle meets the beach."
How to Get There: You fly into Cancun from whereever you are. Amansala is a one and a half hour drive south of Cancun.
For more information on Amansala, you can read Amansala's first book called "Bikini Bootcamp: Two Weeks to Your Ultimate Beach Body."
