Diary of a Dragon

Is love recognition or surprise
should you fall into your own arms
or out of them
should the canyon be grand
or petit
sewed up invisible stitching
separation so insincere
a feeding tube of gourmet meals
gaps are celebrated
'cause you can see where yourself ends
what if you don't want that
does that mean you walk up the stairs
and off the cliff
notes on falling:
arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
it's misunderstood; breathing fire
we don't push out flame
'stead inhale ember, cinder, and bright hurt
only at the danger level
are all systems normal
where love is the power plant
the alarms go off
and the technicians joke
about the awfulness of the coffee
abruptly quiet
sanity has settled into the routine
and panic sweeps its dynamic broom
"my god, everything's o.k.,
let's get out of here
before everything doesn't blow"
