First published in 1962, this is a classic political thriller of the first rank. The authors present a story where, over the opposition of the military-industrial complex, a first-term president gets a disarmament treaty with Russia ratified by the senate and congress and is targeted by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs for a coup d'etat. Baily and Knebel keep the reader enthralled through dramatic storytelling skills and attention to detail, making the unthinkable become within the realm of possibility.

If you've got time to kill on a plane/train or on a lazy Sunday afternoon, grab a copy. You'll enjoy it.
