Sunday August 26th 2007
Hello New York Film Festival Staff and Crew,
What an exciting event! I would like to thank each and every one of you who were instrumental in hosting such an enormous event. As a first time producer we were totally clueless and we immediately felt like family. We were overwhelmed at the Opening Gala and it was so exciting to go to a theater, buy refreshments and watch a movie that we worked so hard as a team to produce. "ROAR 2" is coming soon.
A special thanks to ITN Distribution for believing in us...we won't let you down!
Kudos to you all!
God Bless,

Hi Annalisa
Hope you are well. I saw on the website that Forgotten Souls won an
award. I think it's great to receive such recognition for all the hard
work everyone involved put it. Thanks to all of you for that. Is there
a certificate or document we can print out to put up in our office? Or
even if you a high resolution logo of the festival we could print off
something?Many thanks again

had. Kudos to you and your team!

Hi Nicole,
I hope the Festival ended on a strong note. I was wondering if any of
the awards had been announced yet and when you think our exhibition
materials would be returned to us. COMMITTED has now been accepted
into LA SHORTS, DC SHORTS, the San Francisco Festival and we have been
offered a distribution deal. We are very excited about what's
happening for the film and NEW YORK was the first. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

days ago I send to you the sheets, posters and other
materials. Because of the intentions in laboratory
where my film ‘Anathema’ is in post-production, the

Annalisa, your cheerful, sincere, and professional attitude, made me feel very much at home away from home. You were always polite and courteous to myself and the other filmmakers. Your considerate, and imaginative planning
created an opening night, I will not soon forget. In my opinion the "After Parties" were great. They were the perfect
parties to relax and unwind. Your affable personality and willingness to assist others during the most busy time(s) in any capacity instilled a sense of family and professionalism with the other filmmakers and staff. Again a very deep
thank you for presence and assistance.L. Hayward Harrington

To Nicole, Stuart, Maria, Briege and everyone at NYIIFVF - Thanks so much for the great experience at your festival in LA - my entire cast and crew loved our time spent at your event. We appreciate the way we were taken care of by all of your festival reps - they were terrific!
And by the way, to win Best Feature and Best Actress in a Feature was absoluetly
wonderful - icing on the cake. I appreciate all you did for our film, Last of the Romantics.Vohn Regensburger

Dear Stuart,
I wanted to thank you for the great time we had at the LA festival. Everyone was so helpful and I particularly appreciated the help of Renata, Shorty, Briege, Todd, Anna, Maria, and of course Nicole. The award for Best Director for "Daddy's Girl" was much appreciated and should help with distribution as well as my next movie. The seminars were just great and Susan did a wonderful job as moderator. I learned quite a lot and have already put it to good use for my next project. I am eager to hear how "Daddy's Girl" does in Cannes; sure wish I could go but I am busy with pre-production of Deception. I am hoping to lock down a budget of 5 million for the 24 day shoot. So far, investors are interested and quite honestly, I never would have gone to this level if it was not for the encouragement I got from you, Nicole, and your entire team.
I would encourage anyone who can make the trip to Cannes to go as I am sure it will be well worth it.
Stu, I took your point on the importance of poster art and have hired an artist to redo the poster to "Daddy's Girl" I will try to get some materials to you in time for Cannes.
For those of you reading this, if you are on the fence about signing up, please do. You will learn a lot about the industry in the excellent seminars, meet great people, and get a great partner who will do their best to sell your film. Now who could ask more than that! I expect to hear good things from Cannes as just looking at ITN's record of success, the odds are definitely in my favor.
Thanks again Stu and talk to you soon.

Dear Stuart and the Independent Film Quarterly, Thank you for helping me to share my work "Nizhoni" at the Los Angeles screenings of the NYIIFVF.
My second screening on Saturday night went very well and I recieved a lot of really
interesting and positive feedback from the other filmmakers and viewers at the
screening. That same evening was a full Moon lunar eclipse, wich was extremely
auspicious for the entire festival!
This was an invaluable experience for me as an artist.
I look forward to a continued relationship with NYIIFVF and the IFQ.

Hi Stewart,
I just wanted to thank you for the great experience that we all had at the NY International Festival. I brought several cast members from "Daddy's Girl" to the festival and they all had great things to say.
I was particularly impressed with the teamwork of your staff. Todd made corrections to the site within minutes of my request; who could ask for more than that! Briege and Renata were very helpful making introductions and arranging for the screening to go smoothly. Nicole was a Godsend, she was so understanding with my revisions and delays.
From beginning to end, everyone member of your team worked to ensure we all got the most out of our experience.
Now comes the hard part..., waiting for next festival. We are all looking forward to getting together in LA. I missed one of the seminars and I want to make sure I get them all this time. I was particularly impressed to meet you and learn how ITN and all the offshoots were started. It is the oldest axiom in business, find a need and fill it. Well, you have done a great job and helped make my first film a great success.
I would encourage all independent film makers out there to apply to this festival; it is an invaluable learning experience, networking opportunity, and just a whole lot of fun.

Hi Nicole,
I know you are all still busy with the Festival, I just wanted to let you know it was a great experience for Nick. We had a terrific time on Thursday and Sunday at the viewing.
By any chance did you have anyone who was video taping when the directors spoke before their viewings? My camera went crazy on me that night and I missed it. It would be so great to have that for Nick's first big experience. If the festival didn't, do you think I would be able to get contact information for the other directors who were there at the Sunday 10:10 viewing Screen 3 to see if they have something they would be able to copy and send to me. I would really appreciate your help with this. Please let me know.
Thank you again for a great experience.

Hi, Nicole -
Just a short note to thank you for everything concerning the New York
festival. I had never seen "COLLISION" on a really big screen before and
was quite impressed. And speaking of being impressed, the staff members were downright
hospitable and the Village East Cinemas far exceeded my expectations. What
a great little festival!I hope to be back some time in the future.

I just wanted to say thank you for your help with any questions or needs I had with the NY festival. You and Olga were both very helpful so I thank you for that. Plus I just wanted to state that I have been to many festivals and have never seen one run as smoothly, organized, and professional as the NYFV did this passed week.

My participation in The NY International Independent
Film & Video Festival was a great experience! Of
course, the contacts I made through having my film
screened are priceless. However, the seminars were
extremely informative. I learned so much. Talking
with other industry people from around the world also
gave me a global perspective. All and all, because of
my participation in this festival, I am a much better,

Olga, Nicole, and to the rest of your staff,
I wanna thank you guys for making the festival a memorable experience in my
journey. As you know, the film 'The Story of Hezues R' is not just a movie. It is my
life, and it is continually used as a means of inspiration as I go into
schools and communities to talk to young kids.I have been doing a lot of press as a result of your selection of my film
and have been able to further promote our Guns 4 Cameras program. I would
like to give more kids the opportunities in video production that I wasn't
afforded and to steer them away from the violence of the street.
Thank you for everything.Best Regards,

"Hello Nicole! I just wanted to thank you so much for having "A Clown Short of Destiny" in the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. It's been a 10-year battle against some very stiff opposition to make "A Clown Short Of Destiny", and it's nice to know that there's a place where a documentarian can rest assured that his story can be told - despite death threats, property damage and intimidation. If it weren't for people like you and events like the NYIIFF, then films like mine, and filmmaker's like myself, would not be empowered to lend a voice to the voiceless that are in desperate need of help and support.
And as far as the screening goes, despite having to hire personal security due to countless death threats, the whole event was a night that I will never forget. In fact, two gentlemen from Germany made the trip all the way to Los Angeles to see my film...which again, was a HUGE compliment to the film and also told alot of us about its reach. They were also kind enough to allow us to film their response to the film - which again, was incredibly flattering.
So again, I just wanted to say THANK YOU! The screening couldn't have went any better, and the response was not only very positive, but it inspired so many people. I can't tell you how many people asked me "what can I do now to help spread the word?". Which confirms my belief that the TRUTH NEEDS TO BE TOLD. That is the BIGGEST duty that a documentarian has to the world. To tell the truth at all costs...no matter how many death threats or slashed tires he or she receives.
And you helped me do that...so with all my heart...THANK YOU!
All the best...
Chad Calek - Director, A Clown Short of Destiny"
