Happy beginning of summer, where Holidays, gaming conventions, and swim parties abound! Origins is behind us (at least behind Shawn Murphy, who will be uploading 8 hours worth of footage from the show over the next few months) and PAX is on it's way. All we have to do until then is get the site updated, test some more games, and keep the comics flowing :-) ( you can see drafts of the site update here: http://www.robotmartini.com/community/viewpost/687 )
Happy 4th of July

GWG's Tony Smith was killed in a car crash Wednesday. Tony was a good friend to all of us, and a caring, cheerful person, who's loss has left all of us numb and no other news seems relevant in comparison.
Gaming
Lunch Money House rules
After weeks of putting it off, I've finally written up our house rules for Lunch Money. The game remains fussy (you will have to review card rules still). So it's not much more new-player friendly than the original. It is a bit more consistent though, and better balanced. Check it out here:

Kind of a sucky, unproductive week gone by. We're still working out some bugs on beta.robotmartini.com and we're also delayed from reviewing a few new game submissions. Also, I just noticed last week's digest claimed to be for JULY, instead of June. Getting ahead of myself ;-)
Hope everyone had a good fathers day!

That was a hot week for Baltimore and a busy week for RMG. Art and Design for our corperate identity continues, both on beta.robotmartini.com and off-line on our hard drives. The biggest downer is, unless you are a graphic designer (or the Angry Daughter of a Typesetter), you wont find the nuts and bolts of what we are working on very interesting ;-)
Here's a recap of the week:
Floppies #20 Meta Rules or How to Handicap good players
A comic inspired by players who are too good no matter what you do to them
Monday: http://www.robotmartini.com/community/viewpost/648

Thursday: http://www.robotmartini.com/community/viewpost/653
SideScroller: Jack Thompson Special Edition
Dan Greene raises a glass to an American hero. God bless the Florida state bar and supreme court. Also one of dan's better drawn pieces (not that they ever aren't well drawn, just really liked this one)

Game Night vs Lunch Money
Shawn, Sqwabuck, Dough, MechaShiva, and Gavin played lunch money on Thursday night's game night. Fun was had, though I think we were all burnt out by the last game. Videos and Photos can also be found at RMG or on facebook
Sunday: http://www.robotmartini.com/community/viewpost/657
Also last week, the Robot Martini T-Shirts arrived. We did principle photography Saturday and Sunday, and if the heat doesn't blow out my computer we should have them up on the site early this week.
The shirts are 2 color silk screened on Hanes' "Tagless" shirts. They claim to be pre-shrunk, but with 100% cotton shirts, I am always a bit suspicious of shrinkage.
MechaShiva and I made Robot Heads too... but you wont get to see them until early next week ;-)
And last, but certainly not least: A big Happy birthday to Jess, wife of Web Guy
Cheers,
Gee out
Greetings and Hello's to everyone!
May was a crazy month at Robot Martini. We had 7,443 unique visitors on our website -- a full 77% coming to see Dan Greene's Sidescroller from Joystiq.com. Another 14% came to use from facebook and digg.coms. Check out Dan's popular post here: http://www.robotmartini.com/community/viewpost/640
The site update at www.RobotMartini.com is on its way towards functionality and Beta access is now publicly available. Check that out here: http://beta.robotmartini.com/ and let us know what you think, if you notice anything not working, or have suggestions.
Here's our new weekly content and events schedule:
Mondays
An episode of my web comic "Floppies" will arrive on the comics blog (usually around lunchtime). Check out last weeks episode here: http://www.robotmartini.com/community/viewpost/641
Tuesday
An episode of JD's web comic "Astrobrot" will arrive on the comic blog (usually in the evening). Check out last weeks here: http://www.robotmartini.com/community/viewpost/643
Wednesday
An episode of The Mister Taru show will be posted to Youtube and linked back to our casual chatter blog. The War Potato show will occasionally fill this slot, whenever there are interesting war potato antics going on. You can watch last weeks episode featuring guest star Dash here: http://www.robotmartini.com/community/viewpost/644
Thursday
An episode of Dan Greene's Sidescroller will arrive on the comic blog (usually around noon). Check out issue #28 here: http://www.robotmartini.com/community/viewpost/647
We currently post a vid-log for our wednesday night drinking sessions. These appear on our after hours blog @ moli.com only, but may migrate to a drinking blog on robotmartini.com
Thursday Is also our game night. Locals are welcome to join us around 6:30 pm. We currently don't provide food, but may in the future if anyone wants to help us organize it. This coming Thursday we will be playing Slugfest's Red Dragon Inn and Atlus Games' Lunch Money. Lunch Money will likely be played using our house rules.
Friday
We will post videos and comments from game night to the game design or casual chatter blogs (depending on the content). These videos will go largely unedited until we can get our video software working properly again. If anyone can suggest some good MP4 conversion software, we'd appreciate it (for Mac OSX)
Cheers and have a good week
G&G @ RMG
Cleaning up and expanding our Moli presence this week (and weekend)
The Robot Martini view will go largely unchanged for now. I may start posting more War Potato and Mister Taru show movies to the movie viewer, I may not. Have yet to decide how to fully organize our material here.
The Hell House view has a new video. Just a neighbor shouting and cutting down a tree branch. Too bad I didn't have my camera out 30 mins ago, when the same neighbor ran out total fukt up in the head and got his dog run over by a car... This view may be retitled casual or life or something like that, and just serve as our non-business movie dumpster
Floppies isn't changing much either, but will be getting comics once a week as always.
not much to say Blargh back to werk
Happy 25th War Potato Day!
It's Thursday April 3rd and you all know what that means! Take a moment from your busy day and give yourself a prayer. Now get out there and war it up with some potatoes. Them starchy bitches deserve it!
below are movies and photos from our War Potato's Day eve party. Leave us comments and tell us what you did this War Potato Day!
Love, Gee / www.RobotMartini.com
Radon work will be done in a week or two, followed by termite treatment probably a week later. That leaves a massive electrical job for us to do once we settle on the house (during which we will likely be camping out at the Royal street property). During, or perhaps shortly after, we will be doing the floors, any plaster & drywall repair needed, install cable or DSL, and then finish with a healthy layer of paint.
If settlement moves up 2 weeks, we may even be done for thanksgiving.
Probably a good idea to say where my other blogs are, and roughly what I ramble about on them too...
Dollar Art dollarart.blogspot.com/ is a small an low activity blog I run which keeps track of money being used _as art_ in the art world. For legal reasons, I have nothing to do with the creation of the material displayed on the site, but it's still fun to look at. I'd love to get more artists to submit work and/or links to it, but then I'd like to get more artists actively submitting to RM as well...
The Robot Martini robotmartini.blogspot.com/ is my off site semi-personal blog about being a young game company CEO, working for peanuts, making art, etc. It's mostly self indolgent, or perhaps more diary like. I occasionally forget I have this blog and post less appropriate material to the RM corp site (Like stomping a mouse to death).
Corp Game Development Blog www.robotmartini.com/blog is my semi-professional blog, which tracks events that Robot Martini Games participates in, the games that we design, and the art we develop. This is an inside look at the company minus swearing and without any photos of me not wearing pants. This is my most coherent, and frequently updated blog on the web.
I probably won't use this too much (I've got too many blogs already)... I'll probably use it more to record blog postings w/ links to elsewhere.
yay for my first moli post!
