Doing and Saying the Right Thing.
I'm sure this is surprising for you to find "doing the right thing" as a key to increased energy. You have choice between doing the right thing and doing the comfortable thing. When you choose and follow- through with doing the right thing you get a self- esteem boost. You feel better about yourself. When you feel better about yourself you get an energy and performance boost. Your immune system is also strengthened. If, on the other hand, you opt to respond negatively and inappropriately towards someone who is treating you unfairly, your self- esteem will suffer. A boost in self-esteem is like money in the bank. You will then have more drive to accomplish your worthy goals and tasks and feel better about yourself to stick with it even when those obstacles come along.
Leave Your Comfort Zone Just Enough, Recover, Then Do It Again
You must meet my friend Fatigue before you can meet my friend Progress. Fatigue is the gatekeeper to progress. This applies to all areas of life. Improvement in any area means that you are specifically working that area and there is struggle involved, positive struggle because the cause is worthy. Whether it's proper eating habits, getting in shape, fostering sound relationships, building your business, getting your finances in order or furthering your education. So as soon as you start that new exercise or eating program do not be surprised by the difficulty (or fatigue). Remember that those obstacles that come up from time to time are excellent opportunities to leave your comfort zone and get mentally and physically stronger. Treat it as your friend and understand that it is a part of the process and that's how you will meet my friend Progress who is your friend, too.
Live in an Attitude of Gratitude
This is not just a play on words. If you are grateful about all opportunities, people and resources in life, you will increase your performance and energy. If, on the other hand, you are grumpy, indifferent and complaining, that will drain your energy and reduce your performance. It also means that you are not focus on what really matters most for you. Treat every day like a new day and new opportunity and go through the day with fascination and curiosity, you will also be discovering new and greater opportunities and also seeing the best in everyone you meet.
Be Enthusiastic
Remember the teacher in school that had a heightened level of enthusiasm for the subject matter that was taught? Wasn't the class more interesting? Did you have the feeling that the teacher was also very interested about the subject matter? I'll bet you can also remember those teachers who appeared disinterested about the subject matter and yet still taught the class; no fun. I once had a professor in Germany who I used to call "Schlaftablette" (Sleeping Pill). Five minutes into the lecture many of the students were already nodding off; after 30 minutes some began to snore! I think you will agree that any behavior can be modified. The expression of enthusiasm is a behavior. It is like taking a power pill and it is just as contagious as the Schlaftablette.
Eat "Super Food"
The new fashionable term for healthy food is "super food". Depending on the product being promoted, some focus on the level of antioxidants, others on certain specific nutrients. In fact, the real magic is in the mix. Follow this general rule: Eat predominantly close-to-nature, which means to eat foods that have been minimally manipulated or engineered by man. If your diet is predominantly close-to-nature and your source of food has the mix of some proteins (around 12 to 15 %), most carbohydrates (around 55 %) and a some fat (around 20 to 30 %) you are probably eating healthy. Talk to your doctor about supplementation if he should know about your eating habits.
