   1. What Is Style Wars?
   Style Wars is the first formal contest for the new art-form of Style Battling. It's an open competition that begins online with building out your profile, then blooms into a live event, that will visit five US cities in October and November. You can follow the online competition, go see style battling live, or sign up to participate.
   
   2. Can anyone get in on this?
   Totally. Even if you haven’t blown a major designer; aren’t the lovechild kid of a big-name celeb; don’t know Lagerfeld from Jagermeister; and refuse to air kiss, french kiss, or ass kiss—you can still get in on this kick-ass opportunity.
   

   18+ is really all you need to be. Set up you're profile here on MOLI (it's free!), then add us as a friend - tell us which city you're competing in - it's easy! Oh, and make sure you can get yourself to the Live Battle you register for!
   
   4. Why should I be involved?
   A. THE ATTITITUDE. To call bullshit on fashion that favors dictation over participation, imitation over innovation; brands that buy their way into your wardrobe... trends that are style-jacked from your streets and sold back to you for 10 times the price...
   B. THE OPPORTUNITIES. You're the bastard offspring of Edward Scissorhands and John Galliano, and you want to kick-start your world domination plans with a feature in a cool magazine.
   C. THE MONEY. Big bucks to blow on babes, booze, your B.A., whatever; a fierce piece of start-of-the-art technology, a free trip to New York to hang out with the Beautiful People, and the chance to be crowned the 2007 Style Battle Champ, with all the props and pajama-parties that'll get you.
   
   3. OK, what if I didn't register, just heard about it on the day of the show, but I could kick 10 shades of Vogue out of anyone in the competition, and I really want to compete?
   We know your pain. We're leaving two spaces in each show for wildcard competitors. Just buy your ticket and be the most perverse... sorry, persuasive... on that night.
   
   4. I wasn't one of the selected. You guys wouldn't recognize talent if it sat on your face. Can I still compete? Like (3), turn up on the night and persuade us to put you into one of the two wildcard spots.

   6. Dear HoD, I'm a battle star galactica in the bedroom, but I can't do it on stage. Help!
   Think of the money. Think about the prizes. Think of the trip to New York, and adoration of the crowd. Now get up there, you rockstar!
   
   7. What makes a good piece of Instant Couture?
   Just the perfect piece of fashion: relevant, irreverant, unexpected, ingenious--and wearable for precisely one evening. Think transformation. An umbrella as a bustle=good; and umbrella as a more elaborate umbrella=bad. Show us the beauty in the boring! Find the treasure in that trash! Destroy, re-create, never imitate.
   
   8. How do I learn how to do it?
   Look at the pictures. Look at the video. Experiment often. Improvise. Fake it til you make it, Baby!
   
   9. What are the prizes?
   

   City Prize: The 5 WINNERS of each live event take home $1000 IN CASH & PRIZES, (including a $500 cash award from Surface magazine owner Riley John Donnell, recognizing Style & Innovation) + an invitation to the Grand Finale in NYC in the new year to compete for the title of US Style Battle Champion, 2007.
   
   EXPOSURE: All competitors selected to perform live have the opportunity TO STAR in a mini-documentary about their Style Battling work, as well as potentially to be cast in a forthcoming Style Battling TV contest.
   
   10. Is it just individuals?
   Nope. Teams of any size can compete. But, we can only fly two of you into NYC if you win in your city.
   
   11. What if I don’t want to compete?
   That's cool: follow it online. Support your favorite competitor with comments. Go see it live. You'll love it. It's like WWD meets WWF.
   
   12. Do I have to be in fashion?
   Not at all. Style Wars is not about fashion, it’s for anyone with style, creativity, ingenuity. It’s not what you do, it’s what you can do, baby!

   COMPETITION RULES
   
   1. All contestants who want to be considered must build out their profile on MOLI
   
   2. Selected “finalists” will be contacted to participate at the live event in their nearest city.

   Live participants will be given complete instructions to make the whole process very easy.
   
   3. You have to be 18 years or older to compete.
   
   4. Any images you’re uploading should belong to you, and represent your work.
   
   5. By uploading an image, you agree that we and our partners can use it for promotional purposes in perpetuity. 
   
   6. We may also video-record and photo you in the live show, and use that material promotionally.
   
   7. Judges decisions are final.
   
   8. You are never too old/fat/thin/foreign/employed by House of Diehl to Style Battle.
   
   9. You indemnify us against everything when it comes to to Style Wars. We’re untouchable.
   
   10. Rules, competition, prizes, judges, dates... all are subject to change.
