Ambassador Robert C. Tubman (retired) was elected to the Board of Directors in January 2006. Ambassador Tubman is an independent Director. Ambassador Tubman was appointed Chairman of the Compensation Committee in April 2006. Prior to that, he was a member of the Compensation Committee.
Ambassador Tubman served as an international lawyer in Gothenburg, Sweden while also serving as Regional Director for Volvo Bus Company for West Africa (1994 - 1996). Ambassador Tubman served as President of TTI AB (1992 - 1996).
Ambassador Tubman served as Managing Director and General Manager for Africa for the Federal Express Corporation (1990 - 1992). Ambassador Tubman served asAmbassador to Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, and the European Union (1988 -1990). Ambassador Tubman served as Minister of Labor (1987 - 1988) and Minister of Finance from (1986 - 1987) for the Republic of Liberia.
Ambassador Tubman also served as Director of Bong Mining Company, Maryland Plywood and Veneer Company, Liberian American Swedish Mining Company (LAMCO), African Development Bank, International Monetary Fund, and the Interim Committee of the IMF (1986 - 1988).
Ambassador Tubman served as Managing Director of the Development and Compensation Fund for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) (1979 - 1985). Ambassador Tubman also served as Deputy Minister of Justice for Liberia (1976 - 1979).
Ambassador Tubman served as Partner in the Tubman Law Firm (1970 - 1976). In the United States, Ambassador Tubman served as a Law Associate for Ropes and Gray, Boston in 1968 and, in 1969, as an Associate for the law firm of Sullivan and Cromwell, New York. Ambassador Tubman served as Research Assistant for the Ministry of Planning in Liberia (1964 - 1966).
Ambassador Tubman holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School (Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1969) and a B.Sc. with distinction in Economics and International History from the London School of Economics (London, United Kingdom, 1963).
