                      1. Can one person make a difference?

Can one person make a difference?

I was watching TV over the weekend and a movie that I had watched sometime back was playing called Pay It Forward so I put it on and watched it again. It really got me thinking about where we are as people, especially this time a year when everyone seems to be just a little nicer than normal.

During the first part of the movie the teacher played by Kevin Spacey gave an assignment to his class which I would like to give to you all right now. The assignment is as follows:

Think of an idea to change our world and put it into action.

So my challenge is let’s put the idea of one person being able to make a difference and really think about that one thing we can do to make the world a better place and put it into action.  The idea will be to tell everyone what your idea is here in this blog and then update everyone on your progress.

The idea that the young child played by Haley Joel Osment came up with was to Pay it Forward. The idea being to help 3 people accomplish something that they could not have done without help and then not have them pay you back regardless of the help, but instead they would intern pay it forward by helping 3 more people. This would continue to grow from there as you can see 3 helping 3 would be 9 and then that 9 helping 3 would be 27 and so on.

So maybe if we all just took this concept and put it into action we could really make an impact. So if you accept this challenge let us know what your plan is and then update us on your progress. This could be fun hearing what everyone is doing and how it is going, and could also really start to make an impact.

I agree, "Pay It Forward" was a great movie!
I ask myself:  Can One Person Make a Difference?
I certainly hope so, as I am determined to solve the questionable death of my son, Joshua.

I love this idea....absolutely one person can make all the difference.  Think about the season we are in and what that one person did for all man kind!  I am looking forward to sharing some ideas :)

Hey Daniel, I went to the luncheon for a youth crisis center today and met a board member who was a resident in the shelter back in 1979. He grew up to be a lawyer and now he's helping other kids like he used to be. It was wonderful to see paying it forward in action.

This is an excellent challenge.  I have always believed that one person can make a difference, even if it is so simple as smiling and telling the checkout guy thank you and goodbye.  The way you treat people can change their day, and that in turn will change the way they treat people that day, and so on ...
