    Plastiscines @ Mercury Lounge (5 September 2007)

    P1010015

Wednesday night I ended up bobbing my head to the pop/punk sounds of Paris'  Plastiscines.  This is nothing new, and they're not going to be ones that end up saving music...although anything is possible...They're just 4 cute bubbly french girls that make short and sweet pop songs with a rough little edge.

    P1010004

I had just listen to a few of their myspace songs before the show and made my assumptions before I saw them.  I should learn not to judge music/muisican so harshly...but then again sometimes...

    P1010005

The show itself felt totally inorganic...even the mistakes didn't soften the product...I have no doubt that the Plastiscines want to be making music, and it would probably sound exactly as it does, but at what cost?  Regardless of my feelings, there is nothing wrong with their music...its fun, and everyone there seemed to be having fun and dancing along as well.

    --Sean --

It also appears that someone really doesn't like them, and actually created a myspace profile and stickers...lame
  6. We are the goon squad and were coming to town

    27.Aug.07, 12:55 EDT
Admittedly, when rent and utilities are paid, there is food in my cupboard, and I have some money to burn (a rarity, I assure you), I usually turn to clothes shopping to dispose of my disposable income.  Luckily, New York City is an industry of cool, and a society of skinny jeans and bright sneakers. In a few weeks, the seasonal sensation that is Fashion Week shall be gracing Bryant Park and everyone who’s anyone, anyone who’s someone, and those few who are everything to everyone (or at least think they are; divas) will be in attendance.  Which means I wont be going. But for those of you who may be somehow attached on one or several of the “beautiful people” who are the life-force of said week, I’m posting the schedule for the events so you can dedicate your begging for tickets to the show of your greatest favor; air kisses abound.

  8. Adult Swim

    15.Aug.07, 12:10 EDT
Post numero dos for Girlie's Action, and its more of a call to action than anything else. For a few summers now, Mccarren Pool in Brooklyn has been the home to tons of free events and concerts. It one of the best pest parts of spending a summer in the city, and that's sayin something. Well, now the folks at the New York Park & Recreation Department are thinking about using the pool (brace yourself) for swimming and other non-concert related activites! I know this may seem ridiculous, but its true. In hopes of rallying support for our beloved cemented hole in the ground, fill out the Park Department's survey and give a little to an inanimate structure that has given so much to us.
  9. A Girlie That Will Blog In Infamy

    30.Jul.07, 13:28 EDT
This is the first post in hopefully a long lineage of unnecessarily decadent postings from Girlie Action. The first few are more or less test runs to tweak out the nuances of Moli's blog interface. After that- blam! Awesome post galore. This is Girlie Action, and what worth would a Music Media firm's blog be if it didn't have telling stories about the lives of its employee's. I can't promise Hunter S. Thompson like excess, but I vow to get as close as possible, without too much harm to our collective reputations....or I'll just settle for this being an industry blog. We'll see how it goes.
