                          no clue now to do it in the comments window, so i'll do it here.

                          no, my title isn't really "tech geek manager", but it is what i do. i graduated from being the tech geek, and now they pay me bigger bucks to translate for them.

                          It's been my experience that many techies aren't great with communication skills.

                          Early in my career, I did some help desk time, and eventually some web programming.

                          Now I manage projects with a lot of technical resources, so when I'm reporting to management on project status, I'm taking the words of my team and putting them in a format that senior management can relate to. Hence, "translating".

                          Of course, now that I have to explain the joke, I guess it wasn't that funny.

                          Though it was to me.
