hey, sooooo this was the final day of drums at 606...i started around 11 am and played till 1 am with little to no breaks...i went through 3 days with about 3 hours of sleep each night! thanks to the gallons of water, bananas, protein drinks, and energy drinks...I got the job done.. ..what more can I say...it was a great experience...Gene Provincio was such a huge help and i thank him dearly! Paul Fig...WOW the guy is a fuckin machine! I think hes my cyborg brother! ha ha...he did such an amazing job..and definitely my band..for the encouragement and putting up with my crazy brain during this time.... I freaked out a couple times, but it was just cause Im so hard on myself, and was pretty much delirious the whole time... next up are all the guitar stuff, vocals, and bass,....corey killed it,lil dave killed it,luca, killed it...youll see....we wont let you down! Hope everyone has safe Thanksgiving! Enjoy your time with your loved ones!
hey, well.. heres day 2 of drum recording....i started at around noon and ended at midnight...with 1 to breaks max the whole day...I had 3 hours of sleep the night before working on the website stuff and dealing with family issues....so needless to say..i was very very agitated and just stressed out to hell...I was a different person..but all I wanted was to make this the best possible record I could and it seemed that so many things were against me....but me being me...I let NOTHING get in my way and i pushed through all of it and never gave up or asked for breaks! I want to thank my band for being understanding after the fact...because I never told them what I was going through...but afterwards we talked and everything from there on was great! also check out the new song "the chosen" which has guest vocals from our great friend Tommy Vext of Snot...Tommy killed it on the track and and everyone was happy to have him on it! Go check him out on tour now with Mudvayne.
Hey, ok..heres Josh recording day 1 of 3 at 606 studios in Northridge. This the Foo Fighters studio were they have recorded a couple records. Stone Sour,Fireball Ministry, and Shadows Fall also recorded here. Get an insight of Choleric recording their record "The Chosen." He survived on energy drinks, bananas, gallons of water, and protein drinks next to his kit at all times so he never had to get up. Day 1 4 pm-midnight Day 2 noon- midnight Day 3 11 am -1 am all these with barely any breaks.

Ok..I know, I know...no update on the page for a while..we have been hard at work recording the record...and i must say..it is coming out awesome!!! we have a great friend engineering the record..his name is Paul Fig. Hes done an AMAZING job and works hard like we do...dont stop till its done! We also have a new member to the choleric family...the missing link..Cello Dias..yes yes..some of you may remember him when he was in soulfly...i made friends with cello when i first moved to l.a. and i always loved his attitude..super chill, cool, down to earth dude! I always respected him and would remember goin to see him play in new orleans and i always loved his energy up there!!! so..when i had the songs ready..I told my guys " i got the bass player..i dont care what i have to do to get him in the band, but hes the one!" so i called him up and said "hey listen..i dont know what you have goin on right now,but i got 12 kick ass songs we recorded,we need a bass player, and you are the guy..i dont care what you say!" he was like"ummm...ok..can i hear it?"..i drove over there the next day and he was BLOWN away from what he heard! man oh man...the response from this has been amazing!!! makes me feel all worth it leaving everything behind in louisiana!!damn!! i cant begin to tell you how excited each one of us is to have him here!!! anywho...enjoy the new vid..we got a new page and site comin up soon..and we are gonna have TONS of videos i promise! we will be playing out soon AND WILL BE RELEASING A SONG FOR DOWNLOAD VERY SHORTLY!!!..SPREAD THE WORD!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Clint Lowery, what more can you say? The guy is a truly amazing person! Ive known Clint for probably over 5 years now. As soon as we met we just clicked. Knowing his brother Corey forever, I knew he had to be a great person coming from that family. Hanging out was always fun as hell! Then one time we were talking and in conversation just talked about workin together on stuff. He was in l.a. rehearsing for the Korn gig.We worked on one song...and a few months later when he was free..I asked him if he would be interested in coming down and working with us again? He was excited and did not hesitate for a second to come down. He came down for 3 days and we got to work hard on 2 songs...which came out awesome! Clint is such a great person and phenomenal musician..we were truly honored for him to be so helpful to us! Just to be jammin along and having fun was such a great experience.Clint is like another brother to me and will always see him like that..both him and Corey.I love them both! I am very happy for Clint to be back out on the road...where better to be than his original band..Sevendust. He will definately make his presence felt on that stage..make sure to go out and catch them live if they come your way!
We recently finished pre production with Tony Campos of Static-X. Ive known Tony since I moved to L.A.so decided to ask to see if he’d be interested in working 2 songs with us....the songs came out killer!Ive always liked the edge he has in Static-X and the stuff hes done with his other projects,so I knew that having him come in and work on stuff with us would turn out awesome....and so it did.It was a very good time working with him and we give him a big thank you for coming down! We would also like to wish Tony the best luck on the Ministry tour! We know he will do great!
We were fortunate enough to work with Eddie Wohl of Scrap 60 productions. For those of you who dont know Scrap 60..they have worked with bands like Ill Nino, Cradle of Filth, Bleeding Through,,Anthrax,Dry Kill Logic and 36 Crazyfists. Ive known Eddie since I moved to l.a. we were introduced by Dave Chavarri of Ill Nino. We kept contact and hung out a lot. We both knew we wanted to work together, but the time wasnt right..the line up was not complete. When things came together,i gave Eddie a call and we decided to work on a song together...needles to say..the song came out awesome! i know I say that alot about alot of the songs, but wait till you hear them. im sure we will be working with Eddie again when the time is right. I hope yall enjoy the vid.!
We were blessed to work with Corey Lowery (Ex Stuck Mojo, Stereomud). Corey and I have been good friends for many years. I have been a huge fan of his work since the Mojo days and through all the bands he's been in. I knew he'd be a perfect guy to work with and I'll tell you what.....the songs we worked with him came out UNBELIEVABLE! Even though we worked 12 hour days in downtown L.A. during a record setting heat wave....we were restless, dehydrated, and exhausted we MADE it happen. Corey is one the most down to earth, creative, genuine people I've ever known. He is filled with great ideas and was very open to seeing our vision of the band/songs.The guy is a trooper and hard worker. He flew in from Atlanta after doing a weeks worth of pre production for his band Dark New Day working 12-14 hour days got on a plane with NO Sleep and came here to work with us for 4days!! That's a textbook definition of a trooper! I am honored to have a great friend and person that I've admired through years be able to help Choleric. If you have not checked out Dark New Day...you definately need to!
Hey, Well, well, well......man its been a while since a good solid update and with a whole lot to tell! Where do I begin?Alot of our updates got erased from the site, but we will be adding WEEKLY updates..such as videos, pictures, and write entries from now on..I promise that! We have been workin on this damn record for a LONG time now...but anyone that has ever been in a band or has been around bands.... knows the pain in the ass of dealin with FLAKEY, LAZY, BACKSTABBING musicians! They either have one or all of these diseases! ha ha...we have now got a great lineup! Disease free too. There is a great solid lineup in Choleric now and we are ready to get this thing goin in '08. On guitars I have Corey Katouli, myself Josh Villalta as the drummer, and the missing link for the last couple of years....Luca on vocals.. We are ready to roll and have been working hard for A VERY LONG TIME!!!!. Its been an amazing ride. Many, many, many ups and downs! I had a lot of learning to do and re-evaluations of myself and for the sake of Choleric. The vision and dreams are turning out beautifully and am honored to be sharingtime, creativity and a stage with these guys. Next is the record....I can only begin by saying BE READY!! This record is what has been lacking in metal/rock/whateveryouwannacallittoday. It is afull record from start to finish. We currently have 12 songs to record and will start this preocess very shortly.
First off...I have to say what an awesome experience...this was a couple months back, but I feel I should share this with everyone!! Sepultura was one of my huggest influences growing up and I am honored to have been able to do this and have it on video.I met and had been hanging out with Andreas the whole week he was in L.A. I was with a friend and we went early with Andreas to his guitar clinic....I was messin around with him and told him "look a drum set, lets jam"..he said "you know Sepultura?" I replied "Fuck yeah of course" and then said "ok well we'll see"...At this point I was like Holy Shit...is this gonna really happen..well when he was done with his guitar clinic..he called me out on it..so there was no backin out. Its not like I listen to Sepultura everyday or even play there stuff often...so it was completely on the fly and we called the songs out on the fly too...we both fucked up on parts, but fuck it...it wasnt rehearsed! This is more than an honor to be able to do this and also to be able to have it recorded...I never thought as a kid that I would ever be able to jam with someone who has influenced me growin up!! Thanks Andreas!! My thoughts on each song: Slave New World---Absolutely love this song!! I like the whole Chaos record the most...fun to play and I thought it would be cool to open this. Biotech Is Godzilla---Some dipshit called it out in the crowd to play this song..I responded "man,I havent played that in years" meaning like since I was 16 he responded "then whats the point of being up there??"...so I couldnt get shown up!A couple mess ups on here...but it was fun. Roots Bloody Roots---Fuckin Roots!! What Can I say about this song...Goddamn classic! I got more comfortable on this song..I start pounding the drums..towards the end I fuck up the cymbal stand and it throws me off a little....oh well...Rooooooots Bloooody Rooooots! Refuse/Resist---Another awesome song from Sepultura...If you watch at the end of the song...I improvised the tribal sound at the end...I pushed the stick into the snare drum to change the pitch and hit the drumstick to get that sound...never have done that before playing this song and was completely on the whim...but it sounded cool!... Dont worry... we're still workin on the songs and we should be done soon...cant wait for everyone to hear them!! Spread the word on Choleric...we will be coming soon to take over!
