ENVIRONMENT
APR reduces the feral cat population through a rescue/neuter/release program, preventing the birth of thousands of unwanted cats each year. After endless calls about cat colonies breeding with no limits and people unable to spay/neuter their pets for lack of funds, it was time for APR to take action.
One of APR’s primary responsibilities is to keep the animals we have rescued healthy and happy by building a safe, secure, and protected environment at our no kill shelter. What happens to stray animals that no one will adopt? They get a cushy place to live at APR. Any animal can be saved with enough caring. APR hopes to build a no kill sanctuary to house all pets in need of a loving home until that special someone comes along.
SOCIAL SERVICES
APR educates the public on the problems of pet over population through the PET-A-KID program-kids and pets working together to make a difference. The children come to our no kill shelter because they have little to no parental guidance due to long work days and broken families. The program will keep the children off of the streets, teach them responsibility, love, respect for life, and team work. The kids turn the animals into wonderful pets-and the animals turn the kids into wonderful people!
EXCEL WITH ANIMALS-APR offers pre-vocational, social and recreational opportunities for persons with mental illness. People with disabilities and economic disadvantages become self-sufficient and become contributing members of the community through skills training and career building opportunities at our no kill shelter
COMMUNITY
The Animal House Gazette is a quarterly publication that has helped to increase adoptions and helped to increase public awareness of the pet over population problem.
Financial Support: APR is funded by donations from individuals like yourself. Planned gifts and bequests are essential to the growth and development. Financial support has made it possible to carry on our mission of helping unwanted pets and the expansion of our many programs.
