  2. Rising Down Rehearsals, Day 3

    27.Mar.08, 21:11 EDT

    • Day 3, and we're in New York City. I'm not sure the Big Apple is ready. ?uestlover and Black Thought performed a marathon press day, giving interviews to everyone from VH1 to allhiphop.com, from The New York Times to RollingStone and many, many in-between. After a long day of in-studio press activity, a posse of photographers snapping away throughout, it was finally time for the big event. Now I've been to a million of these little studio listening sessions but I've never witnessed a mob scene quite like this, complete with a line wrapping around the block in Times Square vacinity. I felt like a sardine up in there, sweltering in the 90 degree heat of the body-filled room. No matter, the discomfort didn't bother anyone once the album began to play. Read Candace L.'s account of the day and then peep the beautiful photos from Sol-Exposure. Then take a look at these flicks from the Philly listening session from The Studio on Tuesday.
  3. Rising Down Rehearsals, Day 2

Day 2 was hectic. After an all-day rehearsal, The Roots hosted their Philly listening party, a small event that turned into, well.. a huge bash! Drinks, food, and Rising Down blasting from the sound system all enhanced the mood of what felt like hundreds of people smushed into a jam-packed house party. Read Candace L.'s blog on the whole affair, and then make sure to peep Sol-Exposure's portraits from the day.
  4. The Roots Jam Sesh Day 1

    25.Mar.08, 20:49 EDT

Okayplayer was on the scene in The Studio in Philly yesterday for the first day of a five-day series of rehearsals and jam sessions with The Roots. Not only will the band be working out new songs from Rising Down for their live show, but they will also likely be, well, jamming... feeling that creative vibe that's inspired all of their albums to date, working out new ideas in the studio, and playing with some special guests along the way. OKP writer Candace L. was in the studio. Read her exclusive in-house reporting from Day 1. We've also got an exclusive photo gallery, courtesy of Sol-Exposure, who will be snapping away each day so check back for more all this week.
