  1. In Vest

    27.Jul.08, 22:09 EDT
After seeing a few celebrities put their taste in this style, I began to wonder how long it would actually take before the public took this fad to a new level.  Even before the so-called "trendy" celebs rebirth it, I saw the beginning stages of this fashion return on the likes of the unlikely ladies and gents of the goth community.  Of course the biker men and women make and have made it their signature since B.C.  But I really think I am loving the new turnaround that Vests have made while debuting their comeback onto our backs.  It is following along the lines of "Nerdy Chic" which is another so-called "trendy" definition for the uncategorized style of today.  You can say "beat it" to the baggy pants, cornrows and of course sports jerseys.  Even the 2-piece, 3-piece, whatever pieces of a suit you may want to put together can be thrown out the window.  Exit stage left and bring out the big guns. Tight jeans, polo shirts in every color, baseball hats or any for that matter and of course the never, but sort of, well kind of casual/dressed up vests.  All materials and fabrics.  Even add some damn buttons to make it even more, well less, unique.  I like it though.  I liked it way back when and I really like the suped up version it is turning into.  Again, I hope to see a whirlwind of them splashed on the runways this fall season, with some cute sequins and polka dots (you know how those shows take things entirely too far)!!!
  2. Why are men so important?

    02.Jul.08, 12:00 EDT
Lately, I have skimmed through fashion magazines and online sites looking at men.  No, not for that type of pleasure...get your mind out of the dumpster people.  But looking at the latest men's fashion wear.  It is intriguing to me that their fashion is making such a rise in the industry.  Okay, I'm not dense and I know that men's fashion has been popular and a must for almost forever.  But you have to admit that as metrosexuals are beginning to stamp their imprint on everything and everyone, runway shows and clothing lines overall have an infectious appeal.  I want to know what L.A.M.B. or Carolina Herrera are offering for their upcoming collections but honestly, I'm itching to see Dior Homme and Ralph Lauren's Men collection ten times more.  I need the ascots and the square chested jackets.  I like the cut of Jil Sander's suits and uniqueness of Jean Paul Gaultier.  It's a new interest for me to understand what is hot to a man versus what a woman thinks should be hot to a man.  I am loving the styles so far and can't wait to see where my hobby of looking will eventually take me.
  3. Inspiration from a Basketball Game

I have a cousin who is in the 17 year old age bracket and she happens to be a cheerleader.  I went to one of her games and immediately found myself taken aback by the overwhelming fashion of each kid there.  It was like a mix between a CRS (Child Rebel Soldiers) style, with a touch of Travis McCoy and Lil Mama.  I mean these chicks and dudes have taken originality to another zone.  Even though they are repeating the same signature looks as the 80s and 90s, the mix makes it incredible.  I wonder if any fall fashion shows will incorporate this widespread look.  Since fashion runways are the main source for outrageous versions of what is "new", then this particular style shouldn't be overlooked.  It has been blossoming for a few years, but now that it's at its height...
Okay so yes I have bought a bandana to wear around my neck and my 80's bamboo earrings are sparkling with with my name across it...that shouldn't discredit me as an adult...or does it?
