Hey All,
It's
Pearl here with my first official Moli blog. Happy 2008. We've barely
gotten in to the new year, but it's feeling bigger, better and brighter
already. I want to first say thanks for finding me and joining me here.
I am a singer, and a songwriter. I grew up with music, with rock and
roll, with the blues, with soul, with funk, with country...it's all in
my blood, and now I'm pouring it all out for you. I know you're gonna
love what you hear, on the page and in the airwaves. What?...start off with a rant? Well, don't mind if I do.....
My dad is an entertainer, a singer, an actor. You may have heard of
him. His name is Meat Loaf. I started singing with him in 1994 after
my freshman year of college. Of course, I've spent my entire life
watching him on stage whether I was up there with him or not, taking in
his process, observing the passion, the commitment, the madness, and
the dedication that goes into his performances. He is never not at full throttle, and by no means does he take his job lightly. I
in turn, do not either. My father taught me that being on stage, and
being given the chance to perform in front of an audience, whether it
be 5 people or 5 million, is always a privilege, and this is what I
truly believe. Because of him, I too believe that the show must go on.
You always go on. You always give one million percent, no matter
what, aside from dismemberment or something of the sort, or death, or
of course if you've lost your voice. If the pipes ain't working,
there's not much you can do about it. You've just got to wait it out
and heal. But you've got to respect your fans if you expect for them
to respect you. It is not your right to have an audience come and
listen to you whether they've paid or not, it is something that you
earn. It is something that you have to work for. If nobody came, you
would be nowhere. I think that a lot of "artists" these days are
too fucking soft. When did it stop being about the music? When did it
stop being about the soul of performance? I'd never cancel one show,
let alone a sequence of shows because I was hung over, or tired, or
"dehydrated". Where's the spirit? Where's the appreciation? Where's
the showmanship, the professionalism, the class? Where's your balls?
Where's the fucking rock and roll? I'll tell you where it is...it's
right here, I've got it, my band has it, and we'll give it to you
tenfold, enough to floor all these spoiled rotten pop-brats. I'll
tell you what, it drives me up a wall to see some of these girls, (Lily
Allen, Amy Winehouse), just shit all over their fans, their own music,
and the privilege of even being given a stage to puke on. I don't
think they understand what they have, what they could be, or what it's
all about. It's a God damned tragedy. I see these sweet little fan
girls running around with big black beehive wigs on, all excited to see
their idol, just to be so disappointed because Amy decided to get
wasted and cancel. I remember when I was little, dressing up like
Cyndi Lauper with my girlfriends and just loving her to fucking bits.
Cyndi never let us down. Madonna never let us down. You can argue
that the internet has changed everything, and that new technology
allows for too much of a breach of privacy, and the media this, and the
media that...blah, blah...give me a break. So be discreet. Do
what you gotta do, maybe just don't video tape yourself doing it, and
maybe don't get too fucked up on a show day. I'm no fucking angel,
believe me, but there's something to be said for finding the right
place, and the right time, and if you fuck up, then you scrape yourself
off the floor and sweat it out on stage. There are too many people
counting on you to make it there. If you can't do it for yourself, then
at least do it for them. There's too much whining, too many excuses,
and too much being taken for granted. If these pop girls don't want
their stage, then they should give it to me. Give it to me because I
truly want it, and I understand the weight and the value of it. If
they don't want their fans, then I'll take them, and I'll give them
someone to love, someone to follow, someone who will work for them and
rock them hard, someone to be proud of. I will not disappoint, I will
always give a million plus percent, and I will always go on. It's just
too important to me. Like I said, it's in my blood, and I want
everyone to have some. I'm in, and I mean it. So, if you haven't
already done so, please check out my new music. It is straight up, no
holds barred rock and roll. I'm bringing the truth back! No more
bullshit. No more pansies. No more fucking whiney assholes. It's
time to take the music back! I've got Mother Superior! I've got Scott
