Alright everybody,
Here I am in the last days before we leave for the Velvet Revolver tour. Preparations. Preparations. Of course, I’m a bit under the weather with swollen glands, but my doc put me on some mega horse-pill antibiotics, and I’m gorging on Wellness Formula which is a fucking life-saver. I swear by it. Go out and get some, the tablets, NOT the capsules. Take three once a day for maintenance, and three three times a day if you’re starting to feel shitty. I get them at Whole Foods. There you go, that’s my tip for the day.
So, like I said, we’re just gearing up, tying up all loose ends, we got the backdrop and the bass drum heads for the stage set (so killer), hotels, itineraries, transport for us band humans, and for gear, etc. I’m getting all my own odds and ends in order, ie; leather, denim, lace, high-heeled thigh-highs, silver chains and turquoise, bullet belt, feathers, and maybe a rhinestone here or there. Something I keep on my person at all times is my trusty Beta 58 microphone that my old-school-rock’n’roll Uncle T-Bone gave to me some years ago when I first started rocking my own band. Although, I think a wireless mic system might be taking it’s place on this run which will make it less likely that I’ll trip myself up a-wailing and a-twilrling up there on the stage.
I’m just waiting to see all you crazy fucks especially at our headline gig in London on the 21st at Barfly Camden. Come one, come all!!! Bring everyone you know. We wanna bust the walls down that night! I just have one quick note to the girls that wrote to me on myspace, begging me to add them to the guest list for the Velvet Revolver show in Manchester...There is no Manchester show. Perhaps you’re confused. Even if there was a Manchester show, I’m not sure that I could just throw you on the guest list. WE ARE, I and the rest of the band, are guests in the house of Velvet Revolver. I’m not even sure that we get any guests of our own, like record company peeps, or the like. Sorry ladies! I hope you can make it out to one of the other shows. I’d love to meet you, especially since you say you’re massive fans of mine. I’d love for you to see the show. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.
To the rest of you who have written saying that you’ve already bought tickets, and also to those who just wrote to wish us luck, or as we say in the business "break a leg", you rule!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can’t wait to get there and rock with you. We’re gonna kick so much ass, Man. Rock and roll! I’m your woman!
See you there. I’m counting down the days, hours, minutes....
Let’s go!!!!
Cheers, love, rock, always,
Pearl
Hey all!
We'll January is slipping away super quick. Time flies when you're having fun.
First, I wanna thank everyone who came out to our gig on Wednesday night here in LA at the Roxy theater on the Sunset strip. We were having a party up on stage, and it's always so killer to look out and see all of you rockin' right along with us. It means the world to us. You all rule.
We can't wait for our next gig at Dive Bar http://www.vegasdivebar.com/index.html , In Las Vegas on February 23rd. This will be my last show with Mother Superior for a loooong, time. They'll be going on tour to support their latest effort "Three Headed Dog". They'll also be out doing some dates with Daniel Lanois. Check their Myspace page for details.
I love those guys so much, and I wish them fame and fortune, and a great fucking time, and above all, I wish them safe travels...
I gotta tell you...my new band is SICK! Sick and hot! I've still got the ol'man, Scott Ian playing guitar, but the other three spots are new. We're finalizing everything now, and we'll announce the new names, and upcoming tour dates in a week or two. So, stay tuned for updates, and bulletins, and one more LA show before we hit the road! It's truly major!
In the meantime, keep writing to me, keep listening to the songs, keep rockin' and rollin', and I'll see you ALL very soon.
'Till next time...
Cheers, love, rock, always,
Pearl
Hey All,
It's Pearl here with my first official Moli blog. Happy 2008. We've barely gotten in to the new year, but it's feeling bigger, better and brighter already. I want to first say thanks for finding me and joining me here. I am a singer, and a songwriter. I grew up with music, with rock and roll, with the blues, with soul, with funk, with country...it's all in my blood, and now I'm pouring it all out for you. I know you're gonna love what you hear, on the page and in the airwaves.
What?...start off with a rant? Well, don't mind if I do.....
My dad is an entertainer, a singer, an actor. You may have heard of him. His name is Meat Loaf. I started singing with him in 1994 after my freshman year of college. Of course, I've spent my entire life watching him on stage whether I was up there with him or not, taking in his process, observing the passion, the commitment, the madness, and the dedication that goes into his performances.
He is never not at full throttle, and by no means does he take his job lightly.
I in turn, do not either. My father taught me that being on stage, and being given the chance to perform in front of an audience, whether it be 5 people or 5 million, is always a privilege, and this is what I truly believe. Because of him, I too believe that the show must go on. You always go on. You always give one million percent, no matter what, aside from dismemberment or something of the sort, or death, or of course if you've lost your voice.
If the pipes ain't working, there's not much you can do about it. You've just got to wait it out and heal. But you've got to respect your fans if you expect for them to respect you. It is not your right to have an audience come and listen to you whether they've paid or not, it is something that you earn. It is something that you have to work for. If nobody came, you would be nowhere.
I think that a lot of "artists" these days are too fucking soft. When did it stop being about the music? When did it stop being about the soul of performance? I'd never cancel one show, let alone a sequence of shows because I was hung over, or tired, or "dehydrated". Where's the spirit? Where's the appreciation? Where's the showmanship, the professionalism, the class? Where's your balls? Where's the fucking rock and roll? I'll tell you where it is...it's right here, I've got it, my band has it, and we'll give it to you tenfold, enough to floor all these spoiled rotten pop-brats.
I'll tell you what, it drives me up a wall to see some of these girls, (Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse), just shit all over their fans, their own music, and the privilege of even being given a stage to puke on. I don't think they understand what they have, what they could be, or what it's all about. It's a God damned tragedy. I see these sweet little fan girls running around with big black beehive wigs on, all excited to see their idol, just to be so disappointed because Amy decided to get wasted and cancel. I remember when I was little, dressing up like Cyndi Lauper with my girlfriends and just loving her to fucking bits. Cyndi never let us down. Madonna never let us down. You can argue that the internet has changed everything, and that new technology allows for too much of a breach of privacy, and the media this, and the media that...blah, blah...give me a break. So be discreet.
Do what you gotta do, maybe just don't video tape yourself doing it, and maybe don't get too fucked up on a show day. I'm no fucking angel, believe me, but there's something to be said for finding the right place, and the right time, and if you fuck up, then you scrape yourself off the floor and sweat it out on stage.
There are too many people counting on you to make it there. If you can't do it for yourself, then at least do it for them. There's too much whining, too many excuses, and too much being taken for granted. If these pop girls don't want their stage, then they should give it to me. Give it to me because I truly want it, and I understand the weight and the value of it. If they don't want their fans, then I'll take them, and I'll give them someone to love, someone to follow, someone who will work for them and rock them hard, someone to be proud of. I will not disappoint, I will always give a million plus percent, and I will always go on. It's just too important to me. Like I said, it's in my blood, and I want everyone to have some. I'm in, and I mean it.
So, if you haven't already done so, please check out my new music. It is straight up, no holds barred rock and roll. I'm bringing the truth back! No more bullshit. No more pansies. No more fucking whiney assholes. It's time to take the music back! I've got Mother Superior! I've got Scott Ian! I've got Ted Nugent! I've got Jerry Cantrell! Right now there is an EP available for downloading from i-tunes, Amazon.com, Rhapsody, Emusic, and Napster.
Physical copies of my whole CD will be available in stores soon. I'll be live streaming online on Suicide Girls Radio this Sunday night, Jan. 27th with Scott Ian talking about my new album, playing my own new music, and some of my favorite artists.
ALSO, if you're in the LA area, please come out and SEE ME PLAY LIVE THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT THE ROXY ON SUNSET STRIP at 10:00pm with Mother Superior and Scott Ian...Say you're there to see Pearl, and the first 100 people will get a physical copy of my new EP Featuring Mother Superior, Scott Ian and Ted Nugent! Thanks for listening! I'm glad you're here with me. Come along for the ride. It's gonna be fun...
Cheers, love, rock, always,
Pearl
